Hi guys and gals,

I just rolled over 1000 miles and I have a stutter / shudder under light acceleration in 8/9/10th gears. Just curious if anyone else has had this issue? Other than that, the truck is a beast!

The trans issue is the programming, it's trying to decide whether to shift or not. Ford made the shift points a little rough, I'm hoping someone comes out with a tuner soon for this very reason. Only one company I know has cracked the computer for tuning. They are expensive but the performance is in raptor category.

Myself I'd be good with just smoother shifts, and a little better throttle control.

But you're saying this specific tuner doesn't work? Or it does and just isn't cheap?
They have the 22 F150 Tremor listing in their vehicle fitment list.

Right, but he made it sound like it didn't work, or perhaps just not for the trans was what he meant...

I notice mine has a thump sound when braking really fast from 8th gear to 3rd gear., it's almost as the transmission doesn't have a quick reaction to drop down on gears., not impress with this trans., my boss had a 2018 3.5 EB and the trans when out at 75,000 miles. Hopefully they come out with a tune to address this issue.

It does work it's just more than I'm wanting to do cost wise and power wise

Does this address the trans to your knowledge? I didn't see it mentioned.

It does from my understanding, it changes shift points and smooths it out, you can call them and they also have a video out on it.

Ok cool. I just figured I'd ask since you seemed to know....

It is pricey and I may want something reversible for when I take it to a dealer lol

If you wanted raptor power it gets you really close, I just don't need that much extra power. I have thought about it though just hoping another company can crack it and offer just a small 93 octane tune that helps with the shifting as well.

To get full use of their tune you need a cai and exhaust, which leads to even more cost besides just paying for the tuner and tune.

5 star had a tune for my previous truck that just absolutely rocked, I wish they would crack it and do one.

Good info, thank you! I don't need it either, but it's fun.

I'll have to get ahold of them and see if the cai and exhaust brands matter much. There's another 2k give or take probably though lol.

Anyone know from experience, or word of mouth I suppose, is it easy for a dealer to tell if you have tuned the vehicle like we've been speaking of?

Obviously I've read the things like "if you don't tell them they won't know" but how much truth is there to that when they are looking at CEL's and stuff.

They can tell if they look into the programming, most tuners now have a way to connect them and run the tune through their box so that if you have any issues you can just remove it and it is stock again.

A good dealer though will usually overlook most tunes unless they know it's causing the issues you are having. Like some of the performance tunes using E85 etc. Those are widely know to cause premature engine wear. That's why I stated a simple tune that doesn't change a whole lot. They also always recommend to back up your oem tune so you can revert back to it before hand if their is an issue.

I may stand corrected if you wanna read through this you can

I haven't read through this yet, but just got off the phone with livernois and they said the tune does not leave a footprint once reverted back to the OEM tune. They said the only thing they can't change is that the start button life cycle will reset to 0 (essentially like you've never pushed to start). So, they said revert back to oem tune and wait a couple weeks to bring it in so you can have some history.

They also said the CAI and anything exhaust from the cat back have no affect on the tune.

The video I saw on it said to take full advantage of the tune you needed a cai and exhaust but if they are saying not necessary then that's great.

I knew about the switching back to oem tune but I was referring to if you took it in without switching back. Apparently their tune was done with Ford, if you read the above article if it is indeed accurate Ford allowed them to do the tune for their performance department. So when Ford releases their performance tune, if they do it will be along the same lines as their tune.
