I have the opportunity to grab some 17" ford stock aluminum wheels off a 19 F150 XL for >$100. Basically for a second set of winter or summer treads, haven't made up my mind yet. I have read that 17" will fit any F150 that does not have the MAX trailer tow package, which ours do not. Just wondering if anyone else has thought about this or pulled the trigger on 17" wheels. I know most are looking for larger wheels, but thought I'd discuss the other direction.

17's is all I will run as my primary wheel, let alone as secondary's. Better looks (preference), better ride, better traction, better wheel protection and better tire choices. For the life of me I can't figure out why Ford put 18's on the Tremor. They clearly understand the performance differences because the Raptor comes with 17's. All F-150s share the same bolt pattern, so anything that will fit on the Raptor will fit on the Tremor too. Lot's of Raptor takeoffs available and a lot of aftermarket options with custom offsets too.

What size tires are you running? and do you have a level? Asking because I am thinking that i will keep front suspension stock for now.

I did edit my post above to add some more info, so sorry!

I decided to keep my Raptor for another couple of years and re-evaluate Gen 3 Raptor or Tremor at that time. That said, when I had my Tremor order active I was planning on running the exact same tire and size that I have on my Raptor. I was going to buy a set of 17" Enkei RPT1's wrapped in D rated Wrangler Duratracs 315/70R17 (35" equivalent). For those to fit, a leveling kit would be required. I was planning on a 2-3" adjustable coil over replacement up front and new set of Deaver leaf springs in the rear. With the custom offset and the added height, they should fit perfectly. And then I was going to do HD leaf springs with +1" rake based on the front height. I typically run around with 400 lbs in my bed so that would be figured in. A leveled Tremor sits the same height as the Raptor.

Isn't the offset different for the Tremor? I read somewhere that the Tremor has a 1" wider stance which is accomplished with offsets. Obviously spacer would correct that. I'm using 17" wheels on my '17 Lariat.

Yes, but that doesn't really matter unless you are trying to match up the OEM stance. Keep in mind wheel width also has to be taken into account if they aren't identical. Meaning two wheels with the same offset but different widths will sit in different places inside the fender well.

Personally I like a little more aggressive stance. I have +12mm 17x9" wheels on my truck now. @Yeti has some of his own thoughts on offset when taking scrub into account. I'm sure he'll chime in here.

Pretty good article explaining the math:

Thank you! Good info.

What size tires will you be putting on?
i have a set of nitto terra grapplers from my old truck that are nearly new there a 285/75/17 should be a good fit im guessing ill have to put a levelling kit in but not in a huge rush will run the studded winter tires till at least march

I run 17" winters as well, prefer it actually. Narrower tires too.

I like the look of 17s, and that's the route I'd prefer to go. I've been eyeing the fuel rebel 6s which have a +1 offset, and was thinking 315/70/17 or 305/70/17 tires. Any opinions/thoughts if I'll run into rubbing issues with a 2.5" level? I've seen a few others on here going for the same wheel, but haven't come across any 17s, just 18s. This will be my first truck, so would appreciate input from all those smarter than me on the topic.

the rim size won't affect the outcome only things you need to take into consideration is overall height/width of tire and offset of rim.

Oh ya, I knew that. I just meant I hadn't really seen anyone with 17s on this specific wheel. Unrelated to the fitment q. I was interested in the fitment of the tires since I'm not too familiar with what would work. Thanks!

The 315/70R17 is a 35" equivalent, so if anyone is fitting 35x12.5 on the same offset and wheel width, then they should fit regardless of 17" wheel or 18" wheel.

100% it will rub with 35s. I put Bilstein 6112s on mine and my Venomrex +12 with 35x12.50s and it rubs. I have 315/70/17s with 17" Venomrex but I boltedd the 20s on to test fitment.

How do you like the ride of 6112’s ? I have a set considering throwing on as well. Also, what setting are you running them in and how much lift did you get? Thanks!

On my 2019 I got like 3" and they are supposed to max out at 2.75. on my Tremor I think it only have me like 2" which surprised me. Fox/Roush recommend lowing the collar 5/8" on the 15-20 shocks on 21+ so I thought I'd already get 3" on the Tremor also. Both times on the highest position. These ones also came preassembled from shock surplus so I'm not sure if they run a different top hat or what. But I do like the way they ride. Definitely firmer and more planted feeling.

That’s what I was worried about. I enjoy the soft plush feeling of the OEM’s. Thanks for the info!

Think of firm as intentional as opposed to harsh or rigid. I'm running the Eibach in the rear which is the best $100 I've spent on the truck. For the front, if you prefer a softer ride (and more body roll), Fox and King will be a good direction for you. If you get a chance, drive something with digressive shocks and you may change your mind.
