So I had a little fun with my son this weekend and created an oil change video on our Tremor. It's knowledge that most people here probably already knows but maybe interesting to those looking to see underneath the vehicle.

Also, I'm only 5'6 so that Tremor towers over me! My first real YouTube video that I put some effort in, so enjoy. Feel free to chuckle 😆

Great video! Thanks for sharing. Looks like we get to take some skid plates off for an oil change. I agree if you want to clean up after draining the front skid plate needs to come off.

I think using a drill with a socket, should make some easy work removing the skid plates.

Great job! I need to borrow your cameraman for my next trip.

kouthy, what mud flaps do you have installed on your truck? Noticed them in your video.

Great video production - solid camera work and most informative content. FYI - share your height stats as well........

Thanks for the video kouthy! Well made and very informative.
I was actually wondering how my oil changes were going to go with that skid plate on there.
And now I know!

Thank you all for the kind words! It was just nice spending quality time with the son, and plus he wanted to do all the editing and publishing. He's only 13, so it's wonderful seeing him embrace his creative side.

That skid plate is no joke. 🤬 Awkward to take off and heavy as hell. I had to position my shin and knees up against it to act as a brace. An extra pair of hands will definitely help.

Anyone tried the filter removal from the top? I'm envisioning oil dripping all over hoses, wires, etc. but just curious...

If your arms are long enough you can reach it to turn it, but I would advise to still remove it from the bottom either through the access panel or completely removing the skid plate. Not even sure it would clear all the hoses from the top. Good luck!

Well - I did a 1300 mile oil change on my truck today and I want to murder whoever designed that oil filter location.

I didn't remove the whole skid plate and only did it thru the access panel. But using a strap wrench (one of these) all i did was punch a hole in the side of the filter and made a god awful mess in my driveway. It also doesn't help that the filter felt wayyyyyy over tight from the factory.

I think having a proper filter wrench will make things smooth - but aside from fighting with the filter it was business as usual and the oil looked great after a month of driving and no shiny stuff in the filter which is great!

Is there documentation on how often we need to change the oil in our new trucks or is it “common knowledge” that most owners already know? This will be my first new vehicle so I didn’t know I needed to change the oil at 1,000. Is it in the manual? And if not where can I go to see what else I should do for the truck early on?

You don’t need to change your oil at 1000 miles. People just do it because they want peace of mind. You will find the oil change intervals that the manufacturer recommends in the owner manual.
This reminds me that I need to change the oil in my indian before I put her away for the winter…only has about 200 miles on it…I also like peace of mind 😃

I was on the fence about the 1k oil changes. Never did them for my past vehicles but have a little more Love for the Tremor. Your video inspired me to do the change. Did a 1200 mile oil change about a month ago. I did not lift the truck so it was a little tricky. I do have those ramps but the way my house is, unable to use them in the driveway due to angles and roof. I positioned Truck so it was leveled and part of my driveway curves down so used that. Truck is high enough and I am small enough to get under LOL.
I was able to go through the access panel. I used the OEM Ford Oil Filter and went with AMSOil. 6 quarts put in right in the middle of the oil dipstick for me. Between Full and Add. Used that 3-jaw filter wrench for removal. Purchased a Lisle 61650 76mm 30-Flute End Cap Wrench for the next time. Read somewhere before joining this forum that wrench will fit the OEM Filters. Not 100% sure though. I will keep all posted. Thanks again for the great video.

Glad it worked out going through the panel. Was there any mess? I might try it next time to see if I like that method better, but being a clean freak, I would probably take the skid plate off anyways...lol.

Actually not too bad. I am also a clean freak. Can't stand the Oil being everywhere on the ground and on the Truck LOL. If I remember correctly, the Oil from Filter drips through that square hole in the back of I think the skid plate just like in your video. I just wipe around that area but not really messy at all. Removing the skid plate does give you a lot more room to work with.

Hey, you made your videos private. It was a good reference for oil changes. Any plans on putting them back up?

For me, 1000 miles would be roughly a year. I've had mine since November and it has 380 miles on it now. The oil life reminder will come on before then.
