Hey Everyone,

Long time! I hope you are all are doing well. This wont be a super extensive thread, but I wanted to share some initial results with you on the JB4 on my 2022 Tremor. This was done on our in-house DynoJet 224xlc. The truck has 3,000 miles (almost exactly) at this test interval and has no performance modifications besides the JB4 "tuner". Trucks is filled with 93 octane and then run with short cool downs to try to keep consistency.

Initial impressions are: It works very well for what it is. It is not a "tune", but rather a way to make your factory tune do something it wouldn't ordinarily by tricking it. That said, it works very well with the stock tune, and for a non-flash, technically untraceable tuning type device, it's impressive. If you own a 2021+, this is one of the only solutions for tuning as real custom tuning has not been available. It installs in 15 minutes, and you can change tunes using your phone (if you have the bluetooth connect kit), with just a few moves in the app. It has some datalogging capabilities, which I can/will address more later, but at least you can see something.

Mostly this just alters boost, which raises load, which does make power. Spark seems to stay pretty much what I would expect out of these engines, almost nothing. Each MAP is progressively more aggressive. Here is the map guide they supply on their website:

JB4 Map Guide:
Map0: Fully disable JB4
Map1: +3.5psi peak over stock, default map, 91+ octane
Map2: +3.5psi peak, less top end taper, more aggressive version of map1.
Map3: +4psi peak, suggested for 93+ octane and/or modified trucks
Map4: Low boost VALET map
Map5: +6psi peak, suggested for 30% E85 mixtures and/or unleaded race fuel
Map6: Custom tuning map user adjustable
Map7: +7psi peak racing map for unleaded race fuel

So far I have been daily driving on the Map 2 for about a week. It drives really well, no surging. I wish I could tune the trans some to make it better, but it is what it is for now.

I have not run past Map 3 yet. Map 4 is nothing, but Map 5 is made for E30 or higher mixtures. With the stock intercooler, not sure I want to push it, but I may for a run or two on the dyno with some ethanol (one day).

I realized after this I forgot to run Map 1 but if it's less aggressive version of Map 2, then I think we can guess where it would end up.

Power results are:

Stock - 345 whp & 464 wtq
MAP 2 - 361 whp & 486 wtq
MAP 3 - 387 whp & 510 wtq

So for those test, from stock to MAP 3 we see a 42 whp gain. Not bad at all.

If you have any questions, post them here. Also if you want to get one, just send me a PM and I can let you where to get one.

Do all of the maps require more than 87 octane?

Thanks for the info. Sounds pretty great and simple. Any downsides on wear and tear on the engine or components - longetivity and reliability?

Just as with anything that puts more power in the mix, you can assume some longevity is sacrificed. Maybe that isn't true, maybe the EcoBoost is "overbuilt" so it will be no different. The truth is, if you are willing to tune, be willing to pay to play is what I always go by.

I think if there is any risk with this product, it's minimal at best so long as you follow the instructions.

Thanks!!! I have been waiting for this! Looks promising $12.50 a horse ain’t bad! Any chance you could show the RPM’s as well?

Good stuff. I would not normally tune my dd truck but seeing as I'll have a larger, relocated intercooler and if gas keeps going as it is, e30 may be something to consider.

Here is the same graph, logged against RPM.

Do you have readings on fuel injector duty cycles and a/f mix on these runs?
There is some information in the datalog. On the bluetooth app you can only see 6 channels live. They are customizable though.

When you record, it seems to record "all it is capable of". To that point, there are some good things to log, however some things are missing like knock (which I find crucial). Fueling and boost and throttle as you will see in this image are available, as well as others. The graphing software (mobile and cp) are both primative but effective for checking things. I still have more to learn, but it's not too complex. Boost falls to about 18 something at redline.

I had this tune on my 2019 2.7 and loved it. Had it for two years and about 50k and even ran map 3 on 89 Oct (when gas got expensive) but I never romped on it. The 2.7 held up great. I was hoping to swap it over but just learned I need the V3 for the 21-22. I have the V2 in my garage. I loved the flexibility of the App and switching Maps on the fly. Great product

Does the install device stay connected to the OBD11 port or do you install and store device. Can you give a short how to install? Does the tune do anything with pedal lag/ sensitivity? ie not pushing the pedal half way to the floor to make it go? I don't have my truck yet so I might not know but my 2017 Raptor was that way.

I think I might need one of these. These forums are costing me to much money but I guess I can't take it with me.:)

This may be a silly question but are our 3.5s all e85 compliant? I saw some during my trip last week but never ysed it before

- must stay connected to the OBDII port
- it does not tune the trans in any way, but you may notice more response in the lower rom ranges depending on the map
- I have no experience with raptors, but sport mode will make your throttle response more sensitive than normal

With a proper tune for E and supporting hardware depending on how much of an E blend you want the run, the 3.5EB has shown to perform well.

I would strongly advise NOT running any blend of E without tuning and supporting hardware.

This thread is almost a year old on posting any real results.
is there anyone out there that has done a 93 octane dyno on a ‘23?

Mines on order. While my truck will never make it to a dyno, I will be more than happy to post up something on the install.
I am installing the JB4 along with a Pedal Commander and the Rousch intake.

Does the pedal commander require being plugged into OBD2? I think it does, and if so, the JB4 needs that port to work too. You cannot use a splitter.
