2023 Kia Telluride - extended warranty recommendations?

Still totally in LOVE my 2022 F150 Tremor... when we were driving my new Tremor home i told my wife she would get her new Telluride next year and we are finally about to take possession of it as soon as it hits the dealer lot this week or next. They wanted a LOT of money for an extended warranty and we were trying to keep the monthly down so i totally passed on it during the transaction. I remember there were good third party options you could use for Ford warranties, does anyone know if the same exists for Kia? I'm sure we're gonna need it, i don't trust Kia's reliability despite it being number one in its segment haha

Oh man... I started looking at reddit threads and stuff about the 2023 Telluride. Seem to be lots of QC issues and fires/recalls etc and people are saying this might be a lemon year for Kia. We haven't taken delivery of the Telluride yet but i am sure i wouldn't be able to talk my wife out of it haha ... she has wanted one for a couple years now. Gonna have to just keep an eye on everything i guess and hope for the best. Meh Vehicle quality really has gone down the drain last few years huh

You are waaaaaaaay overthinking this on your Telluride. Kia has the best warranty in the business (10/100 powertrain for the original owner). I am on my 4th Kia right now (Sportage, Sorento, Sorento, EV6) and have NEVER purchased an extended warranty. Out of all those I have only ever had 1 issue; there was a recall on the transmission on the '21 Sorento. My '17 F150 was in the shop 8 times in the past 3 years (luckily always covered by warranty). On the way to the dealership to trade in the Sorento on the EV6 the transmission actually failed. Dealership still gave me full trade in credit as it was covered by the recall and warranty still.

Compare that to the issues Ford has right now and it is night and day difference. Right now Kia is ranked as the most reliable major manufacturer (just behind Lexus and Genesis), while Ford is literally ranked as the worst in reliability for a major manufacturer (just above Land Rover). Kia/Hyundai also is the #2 seller of vehicles in the world just behind VW.

Spend enough time on any forum/FB/Reddit about any vehicle and you will think every one made is a lemon. People go post their frustrations online, not their praise.

Personally, I have zero worries about our Kia, and know that the dealership I work with will take care of it if something happens, but am a bit leary of my 23 Tremor that I will finally get next week. My '17 F150 had its share of issues, but the current situation at Ford in regards to reliability doesnt make me feel optimistic. I am still getting my new truck next week though since I have been waiting over 12 months, and I will NOT be purchasing any extended warranty.

Wow awesome thank you for this! Puts my mind at ease a bit... Like i said we will just pick it up hopefully next week and i'll just try to enjoy it. FYI i've had literally zero issues with my 2022 Tremor so far outside of a few recalls that were quickly dealt with by the dealer. Enjoy your 2023 Tremor, they are fantastic trucks!

I feel like so much of how the experience of a new vehicle goes depends on the dealer. I have a fantastic Ford dealer close to me. For the Kia we actually drive 50 miles and pass 2 other Kia dealerships, but it has been worth it.
