Hey all, new here! šŸ–

I’m looking for some real life experience here to help me decide on which new tire to go with. I have a 2023 Tremor with a 2.5 inch pro comp level. I am looking to replace the stock 275/70r18 tires with something a bit bigger to fill out the wheel well. I want to keep the stock wheels.

I have been looking at 295/70 versus 285/75. What major considerations would factor in for you guys? What do you think looks better? I’m thinking I don’t want to go much wider because, ideally, I will leave these on my truck all year round and need something good in the snow.

One factor drawing me to the 295/70 is that I could get the Nitto Recon in a P rated tire and cut down about 10 pounds per tire. I had the Nitto Terra Grapplers on my last F150 (275/65r20) and I really liked them. Low road noise is important and I want to try and keep the sporty feel, handling, pep, etc. the same. If I jump up to a LT tire, I think I’ll go with a 285/75 Toyo AT3, but the 295/70 is still an option.

So really it boils down to this - should I do the P rated Recon or go for the heavier Toyo? 285 width or 295? Price aside, the Toyo is supposedly better in winter, which matters too.

Any experience is greatly appreciated!

Have you compared actual dimensions for each tire per manufacturer? As an example, 295/70r18 in Wildpeak AT4w is 12.2 inches wide where as the Nitto Grappler is 11.7 from what I recall.

As far as experience, I have the Wildpeaks mentioned above and though heavier and an E rated tire they are quiet and have some of the best wet reaction available in an AT tire. Additional pep, we'll, that is what an upgrade IC, intake, downpipes, and custom tune is for. Not there yet but soon. CVF will be releasing their down pipes for the 21+ 3.5 shortly.

Thanks for response and sorry for delay getting back. Good point on comparing the actual widths - I’ve noticed a nice bit of variation on the 295 widths. Your set up looks awesome btw. Love the look of those.

Thank you sir, good luck with your tire selection.

If your looking for tires I highly recommend working with discount tire, I just got back from there because my driver's front tire has been leaking slowly for almost the entire time I've had the tires on, they found a small leak on the edge where the tread and sidewall meet, replaced the tire completely. I was in and out in 15 minutes.
The bummer I have 3 AT3W and one At4w, but they will pro rate the rest of them and only cost me $450 to get them all the same once they get them in.

I have installed the 285/75r18 on factory wheels. 2 inch auto springs level. no rubbing or interference at full flex. Only lost 1mpg in fuel economy circumference programming for forscal 2695 for recon grapplers load range E. Remember the P ratted tires are usually rated for a higher load at lower tire pressure so with the load range E tires I am running 38 psi to get the same load rating that I had with the factory generals at 35 psi.

Any photos of this set up? Lift and tire combo.

I've got the Recon 290's and they look great. I do have a slight rub at full lock. Had them for less than 5K on my 22 Tremor, so just moved them over to my 24. Didn't notice much MPG in my 22 (it was eco); I swapped upon delivery so I didn't have the factory tires on the 5.0 to compare.

I just took these please excuse the dirty truck.
Thanks.

I’ve got a set of 285/75/18 waiting for me. Just trying to determine if they will fit on factory ride height, or if I need my level kit put on first.

Was hoping to do tires then level, so I could hsve shop align post level.

Anyone know if 285/75/18 fits on factory wheels no level?

I think you would have lots of rub at turn, because your adding another half inch of diameter to mine and I am very close to rubbing

Ok thanks. Rub at turn is one thing, I'm only going across town a couple miles. I can take it slow. Just dont want to be tearing up the inner liners, front bumper, etc

Sounds like they might fit, but drivability is questionable.

If your having them installed at Discount tire have them test fit one on the front, the rear of course will be fine, then drive it slow in the parking lot for a second to make sure, if you have minimum rubbing at turns just take it slow but if there's to much rubbing then you'll know before they have both on. Discount has been awesome to work with for me at least.

I’ve also had good service from Discount Tire here in Atlanta.
I’m not sure if it’s a partnership or if one bought out another but, Tire Rack and Discount Tire now work hand in hand.

Those tires look nice, how long is the warranty on those?
