Anyone else regret going with the 3.5 over the coyote? I’ve put 13k miles on my 2023 Eco and the truck just feels off. The vibration in the gas pedal drives me crazy. In 4A when the front wheels are powered the vibration gets worse. Almost a grinding feeling. The turbo lag seems excessive at times.

This is my first Ford and I like the truck enough to keep it but I definitely should have done more research before going with the 3.5. Definitely first world problems…..

It's not a 3.5 thing, it's a your truck thing. Take it in, that's not normal.

Def smells wrong. These turbos light off pretty quick so I've never felt lag. Most I've felt with 4A is a tiny tiny amount of torque steer. Everythings been super smooth so sounds like she needs a visit.

Taken it to 2 different dealerships…both claim it’s “normal”.

I’ve read a ton of forum posts regarding the vibration in the gas pedal in these trucks. Some have it, some don’t. It’s annoying.

how do your tires look?

You better take to the Dealer and have them look at it !!

I don't have anything like what your saying at all ! Mines a 24 , 402a and 11300 miles with M/T tires , rides great. The rims and tires came off my old FX4 with 18000 miles on them.

I've driven lots of these trucks with the 2.7L EcoBoost, 3.5L EcoBoosts, etc. I've even owned a 3.5L EcoBoost truck and two 5.0's. What you are talking about isn't normal.

The only thing you really lose out on with the 3.5L versus the 5.0L is the exhaust note.

IEW's?? Thought I seen a post a short time ago about vibration in the gas pedal/floorboard and was a IEW issue.. 🤔
Post was : Intermittent humming/dragging noise.. Bday said he had vibes in gas pedal.

To be clear, the vibration is high frequency. It’s not excessive. In 2H I don’t notice it much. In 4A I notice it during acceleration at higher RPM’s. The feeling in the pedal is distinct enough to tell me the front wheels are getting power. Again, it’s not necessarily excessive vibration but it doesn’t feel normal. I’ve driven plenty of 4-wheel-drive vehicles that don’t do this.

I’ll address it again at my next oil change but I’ve already been told twice that it “normal”.

IWE" refers to an Integrated Wheel End system, specifically found on Ford 4x4 trucks (like the F-150 and Raptor). It is a component of the 4-wheel drive system, not just a standard wheel bearing.
Based on the context of Ford 4x4 trucks, "EIEW" likely refers to the Integrated Wheel End (IWE) system, commonly referred to as the locking hub actuator.
Here is a breakdown of what the IWE system is and its role on a truck:
  • Definition: The IWE (Integrated Wheel End) is a vacuum-operated actuator that engages and disengages the front wheel hubs from the front axle shafts.
  • Function: On Ford F-150s and other 4x4s, it allows the truck to switch between 2WD and 4WD. When in 2WD, the IWE disengages the axle to improve fuel efficiency. When 4WD is engaged, the vacuum releases, and the IWE locks the hub to the axle.
  • Location: The IWE actuator is located behind each front wheel, mounted on the wheel hub assembly.
  • Common Failure Symptoms: If the vacuum system fails, the IWE may partially engage while driving, resulting in a distinct grinding or rattling noise, often at slow speeds or upon acceleration.
  • Testing: To test an IWE, a mechanic will apply a vacuum gauge to the actuator to check if it holds pressure, ensuring the diaphragm is not ripped.

I totally agree with several of the responses. I have a ‘23 with 3.5 with just over 30k on the odometer and don’t have any vibration in the gas pedal. This is my 3rd 3.5 and none had these issues (‘13 F-150 SCrew 4x4 / ‘19 Raptor). I agree that something seems to be out of sorts and this is not normal.

75k miles with no pedal vibration or noticeable turbo lag. Hope they can get you squared away.
