Hello all,
New member looking to purchase a new Tremor here hopefully by spring. I'm a little confused by towing package options on the Ford Build and Price tool.

All of the windows stickers I've seen thus far on 402A's have the $1,090 trailer tow package but I'm having trouble understanding why.

On the build tool, the "Class IV trailer hitch" (and 7-pin wiring and Smart Trailer Tow connector) option is standard on all Tremors. Additionally, if you select the 402a package, that includes the "Tow Technology Package" which adds Pro Trailer backup assist, 360 degree camera, Trailer brake controller. So why are most/all of the 402a stickers I'm seeing also including the "Trailer Tow Package"? As far as I can tell, the only option the trailer tow package MIGHT add beyond the class IV hitch and "Tow Technology package" options is the potentially the Tailgate LED, though it says that is standard on Lariat and higher (not sure if Tremor is considered higher than Lariat). Even if the Tailgate LED isnt already part of the tremor, $1,090 seems pretty stout to just add the tailgate led...

Is this a mistake on the Build tool or are all these 402a's with the Trailer Tow package just adding $1,090 cost with no additional features??

I didn’t add it to my 402A order as like you said the “Tow Tech Package” and hitch that already coming with it covers the “trailer tow package” except the LED light. An Tailgate LED looks to come standard. I believe the arrow is pointing to it in the below pic.

The tow package doesn’t mention anything in regards to a bigger radiator or trans cooler, etc. So I agree it seems worthless on the 402A package anyway.

Has anybody ordered it on a 400A or 401A?

I ordered it on mine. It doesn't say so but as I have read, it includes what's needed to get to that 10k tow rating. Otherwise, your around 7k max.

I ordered it on the 401a, but don’t have the truck yet. The build site is funky. It has inaccurate claims. At one point it said 401a comes with the 360 camera package, but that’s incorrect. You have to add that on. I’ve found another thing or two like that as well but I’ve done forgotten what else there was.

Hmm, the tow chart for 2022 now has the Tremor on it. And it saying the same 7,000 lbs max with out trailer tow package. I guess I might have to add it to my order now….

See page 21

Interesting, appreciate the info. I read a bunch of the comments on the Long MaCarthur youtbue video and it seemed like the more i read the more confusion there was. Seems like the 2022 towing guide with the Tremor on there clears things up. You'd think Ford would make that pretty clear on the build tool that "Hey, this package gets you 10k towing by adding (whatever it adds)"...

I rarely tow anything over 3500 lbs and have yet to two anything over 7k so I think I'll lean towards saving the $1100 bucks and likely having a little smoother ride without the extra leaf in the back.

I wonder if that extra leaf in the back is why some of the Tremors appear to have even more rake than others?

Good point on the rake and the “tow trailer package”.

Anyone want to post a picture with their Tow Trailer Package Tremor and someone with out the tow trailer package to compare?
Could see if someone would measure from the ground to the bottom of the wheel well on the trailer tow and non trailer tow and compare that as well

That's my thought too. Which is also why I'll probably be getting new Deavers leaf springs. drop the block and (hopefully) allow a reasonable suspension level with no loaded sag (negative rake/drag).

Looks like I will be calling my sales guy and adding the tow package. From the B&P tool I saw no reason to add it. but after digging deeper, even if it is just a sticker that says 10K I am buying for $1,000.00. I think it is worth it from a liability standpoint.

Yes, true. Would really help limit confusion if Ford would just list what upgrades it brings on the B&P and state that it's required for 10k towing. Seems like that would increase the take rate on that option as well.

I have a post somewhere where Ford show's what's needed to reach that 10K number. It's under thier maximum towing numbers specific for Tremor and what option is needed as a note to the chart.

402a with trailer tow here. My hitch says 11,600 tow capacity.

I believe someone else already touched on this, but my research has also led to my understanding that the $1090 "Trailer Tow Package" provides "whatever" is needed for the 10,000+ tow rating. I believe w/o that (and when selecting 402a) you'd end up w/class IV hitch, Tow Tech Package, but you'd only have a tow rating of around 7,700 lbs. The build guide definitely isn't real clear on the whole thing, and it could be a bit easier to navigate and understand.

For what it's worth, I just placed an order on a 2022 w/402a, and I paid the extra $1090 trailer tow package to ensure the higher tow rating.

Hi guys,
if you look down half way on the first page of the below thread, you'll see where the requirement is burried.

For what it’s worth, the build site is kind of a joke. For example, on the 401A like I ordered, it say’s it comes with the 360 camera package. It doesn’t. You have to add that option. It also says the 401A comes with the B&O system with subwoofer and an optional B&O unleashed sound system. It doesn’t. You have to select the B&O standard as an option if you want it and the B&O unleashed isn’t even available. The build site is super irritating and contradictory. Whoever designed and reviewed the build site was compensated far more than what they should’ve been.

Between the Ford website and the forums I am even more confused on the tow packages. I ordered a 401A with tow Tech package. The dealer showed me a whole table of the packages and it said nothing about differences in towing capability between Tow Tech and Tow package. So I didn’t see any value in the Tow Package. Now it looks like it may change the suspension, cooling system, and overall capacity which are some big differences.

What leaf springs and hitch are on the Tremor without the tow package and just the tow tech?

I wonder if that extra leaf in the back is why some of the Tremors appear to have even more rake than others?
Did anyone ever find an answer to this? It'd be pretty interesting to know..
