I have been told by 5 Star that I should be able to tune my ‘23 Ecoboost since my build date was 12/8/22. They have found that build dates of December ‘22 back can be successfully tuned.
I ordered mine today with 93 ,89 and 87 performance tunes. We will see!

keep us posted! What tuner are you using?

I have the SCT Livewire TS+, but I dont think that will be compatible for some reason. Please keep us posted on the 5* tunes. Thanks!

Sweet, mine's a 10/26/22 build. I'm going to enjoy the warranty for a bit, but good to know!

Warranty can’t be affected unless the tune caused the failure. Most folks return the tune to stock before taking it to the dealer for service. Can the dig deep enough to figure out the there had been a previous flash? Probably but again, unless they can show the flash caused the problem it is a violation of Federal law to deny the claim.

Oh they can dig. My brother works at BMW- anytime they get a popped motor they dig into the ECU and they sure as heck can see how much peak boost it was running, rpm, etc and when that's higher than stock, buh bye warranty.

In reality, when a dealer/manufacturer denies a warranty claim, the burden of proving the tune/mod/etc. did NOT cause the failure falls on the owner of the vehicle, which means getting an attorney involved, and it is pretty standard practice for dealers/manufacturers to automatically deny any engine failure if they know it was tuned because the tune could have contributed to the failure. Due to this places like 5Star sell 3rd party warranties to cover tuned engines.

SCT just added 2023 5.0 support, but I'm having an issue pulling my stock file, working with SCT support, they seem to think it's the flash tool box.

you need the updated version of the X4, because it's specifically designed to talk to their flash tool, which plugs directly into the PCM.

TY Unfortunately, I thought when I bought this top of the line tuner, that I wouldn't have to buy another, and that they would just have to update the software. I wonder it they will take the Livewire in on trade :) TY for info

I am not sure if you can trade it in, you could definitely sell it if you had unmarried it. Married they are worth a lot less. Put that towards the new X4 from 5star. BTW if you or anyone here wants to join a community FB page for 5 star tuning, I help them run it. Just look up 5 star tuning community!

No luck! Five star just advised me that they can’t tune my truck. I have to return the tuner for a refund. I guess their website indicating they can tune ‘23 3.5 eco-boost f150s with build dates of December ‘22 back is not accurate.

The problem is not 5 star, they rely on SCT's software to allow them to tune your vehicle. So they can tune "most" 2023 ecoboosts build in December 2022 or older but not all. The problem is Ford changed a few things with the PCM and strategies after that date. It really just depends and is luck of the draw.

That said, I bought my 23 5.0 in Feb. 5 Star told me it was unlikely SCT would have support anytime soon, and within 2 months they're supporting 2023 5.0s. So you may be surprised how quickly they have support for your truck. The good thing is 5 star has your strategy now so it's possibly you can e-mail them in 3 months and ask if it's supported yet.

Update. My ‘23 is not supported yet even though it was built in early December ‘22. SCT is not far from downtown Orlando so I went to their place to see if they could do anything in person. No luck but they are working on it diligently.

Thanks for the update

Is there any update to this? I now am approaching 36,000 miles and thinking about tuning the 3.5...

If not, you now have a tune option from Ford directly

I see that, but I'm not sure I'm ready to lock myself into running only premium fuel. I do lots of driving for work on just highways and would like the option to just run a 87 octane tune to save money.
