I sure hope Ford can find a better solution to prevent this from happening next year. I don't have a problem if a dealer marks up over MRSP for a vehicle sitting on the lot. That's just simple supply and demand. However if you order a vehicle at a specific price (with or without an agreement), it just seems shady for a dealer to mark the vehicle up without warning when taking delivery.

I agree with you — If you order through a dealer, the agreed to price should be set at that moment by both the dealer and buyer by signing a contract. Ford should standardize this by making a two party signed contract agreement a requirement to special order the vehicle.

Don’t get me going on dealerships — I wish I could just order direct from the manufacturer online.

If you’re ordering from a dealer — make sure they can’t increase your price at delivery.
The moral of this story is:
Get it IN WRITING that you wont pay more than MSRP.

Wouldn't that be awesome?
I’m sure it would come with its own sets of issues. However, I wouldn’t have to sit for half a day in a dealership for something that I should be able to do online in 15 to 20 minutes — and that’s taking my time to compare all the options…
