A/C Issues

Mine hasn't had any issues, a 22. It's been 110 plus here for over 2 months and it cools fine.
I have to agree with you. I also have a 22 with no issues. I am thinking this is only impacting the 23 MY.

Drove the truck on a 2 hour, each way, trip yesterday. On the outward trip, the outside temps were in the 60's/70's and the A/C kept freezing-up every 15-20 minutes. I have learned to sense the condition, typically just by feeling the cab getting warmer, so I turn the A/C off and wait until it starts blowing cold air out (yes, something happens in the system that it will blow cold air after turning the A/C off) and then I wait until that air starts warming again and then turn the A/C button back on. With this routine, the cabin never really gets hot but it is annoying to have to run the cycle every 15-20 minutes. On the ride back, the temps were in the mid 80's and though it froze, it was only about every 30-45 minutes. Seems it freezes more in cooler outside air temps. Contacted the dealer this morning and was told something may be coming in November in terms of a software update....but no details. Will keep the group posted.

There are some '22s on the F150 gen 14 forum that have had the same issue - they've been chasing it down for a while.

Hmm, I wonder if they are late 22 production models. Either way a crappy situation for sure.

Also having the "sometimes on, sometimes off" A/C experience. Luckily the weather's getting cooler, but in Vegas, A/C is required. Will be talking to the dealer about it. 100% you should be freezing if your A/C is set to 66 degrees, cool at 70. Mine's just blowing ambient temp when the A/C isn't working. 2023, btw.
Following up on this. I finally got around to taking it in for service and they replaced the AC Pressure Transducer and topped off the refrigerant and that seems to have fixed the AC.

They also updated the SYNC system with an "update that was too big to get installed over the air", which has fixed my 360 camera/Android Auto issues. I took a look, and I guess the last time I had them look at that and they reset the system, it turned off the wifi. System is reporting Ford Power-Up 6.2.0 and Sync:23291_PRODUCT revision 1049.

Glad to hear that your situation is resolved. I've had the entire evaporator core replaced along with the evaporator valve, and the "freeze-up" issue still persists. The was supposedly a "fix" coming in November, but my dealer hasn't seen anything. It has not been as much of an issue, with the cooler weather, but it was a real annoyance when it was 95 degrees, every day.

Anyone heard an update about this? A permanent fix or a new TSB?

Issue still exists for me. Dealer is sympathetic. Ford less so. In fact, customer service said they never heard of the "A/C freeze-up issue" and want me to take it back to the dealer who tells me they have no warranty repair procedure left to attempt. So I'm in what computer programmers call a "loop". Has been a disappointing experience being a life-long Ford supporter.

That's such a tiresome excuse "we've never heard about this issue" which is clearly doublespeak that Ford really doesn't care about these issues after they sell you a vehicle OR have a fix and I mean a real fix. Personally I think it's a software issue as are many of the other problems, especially on the loaded versions of the Gen. 14 F150's. Mine is a 22 and the base model and has only had the issue twice and after a restart of the vehicle never happened again 9859mi.
The other thing that irks me is if/when you this issue and it self resolves the service people say "can't find a problem" knowing full well there is a BIG problem with these AC issues.
My wife's last car an Acura RDX had the screen go out and I got the same "never heard of that" excuse, to only find out there was a class action lawsuit for the issue.
I truly believe every make and model of vehicles made today including Toyota and Honda usually one of the best for reliability have issues. Some more than others but ALL are flawed in some way. Sucks but it's reality. Rant off..........

I am told there is a now a supposed " A/C Fix" but my truck is currently in the body shop from a parking lot fender bender. Soon as I have a chance to get it back to the dealer, I will post on what the "fix" is and whether it worked, in my case.

I hope you are right, but with this going on now for a few years I am skeptical because most problems never really get solved it seems just excuses made and people like yourself and others becoming jaded from all the constant doublespeak. Can't wait to learn about the "fix"

I talked to the service manager, before the truck went into the body shop, and he asked that I leave it with them, for a few days, to see if they could replicate the issue because it is intermittent and typically occurs after the truck has been driven for a while. A couple days later, I get a text from my salesman saying the tech who has worked on my truck told him there was now a "fix" available. We will see once I can get it back in the service bay.

Please keep us posted! Looking forward to those results.

My truck is going in next Monday (4/22) for a "Reprogram of the PCM and HVAC modules". I will report on the outcome next week.

Got the truck back from the shop, yesterday. I really won't know if the A/C is "fixed" until I have driven it on an extended road trip but for everyone's information, the work performed was per TSB 24-2093. I also had them look at a driveline "clunk" at take-off and the service record states they removed the drive shaft and greased the splines of the transmission yoke. For now, this seems to have corrected the issue. We will see if it lasts.

Thanks for the update. Did not realize there was a new TSB. Will try and see if my local dealer can do the same TSB. Have a few road trips coming up the next few weeks. Would be nice to not have to constantly adjust the temperature.

Appears there is no physical repair involved. It reads as a "HVAC Module Software Update".
