I live in Wake Forest (Raleigh area) 3.5 hours away. She loves the campus and it gets her back to the "mountains" as we are originally from Colorado Springs.

I’m a graduate. We still have a kick ass program! My only regret was not taking full advantage of the surrounding area when I was there.

Brown Mountain OHV and some trails in Wilkes/Ashe counties (right outside Boone) are pretty good. All are within a hour or so of Boone/Blowing Rock.

I live on the eastern side of Boone, actually in Wilkes so love that area. Great trout fishing, my main hobby, and plenty of trails. I'm planning a trip to the Brevard/Cashiers area if anyone knows of good trails that way. Hoping to have the truck mid this month and take a weekend trip to that area in last week of September/early October.

Yep but then again the south fork of holsten river is my backyard, one of the best fly fishing rivers in the country. Banner elk was my skiing and downhill MTN bike location. Sugar mountain, till it started taking longer to recover from crashes it sucks getting old.

I did a brewery crawl using trails in that area. Let me see if I can find those tracks. I doubt they're still around after 11 different GPS apps and 3 PCs.
