Hey all!

I've been in the market for a new F150 for a while but have had a hard time thinking about parting with my current 2015 Platinum. It has some high miles but has been a great truck. I think now is a great time to sell a used vehicle and my work requires a new vehicle every 5 years or so.
The problem I've had is that more than anything, I really like the way my current truck looks and sits. Up until about two weeks ago I was thinking I would have to get a 502A Lariat and then pay for a level, new wheels and tires and risk losing warranty.
Well I stumbled on the FB F150 Tremor group and have done some pretty in depth comparisons to the other F150 models and what I will need and use the truck for. This one fits my needs perfectly.

I plan on ordering an Iconic Silver 402A this week either from a local dealer on X-Plan or from Granger. I would have to make a 1,200 mile drive for the latter.

A few questions for the group:

- If you could have one option on your truck that you didn't get, what would it be?
- Does anyone know if the spray in bedliner is causing order delays?

I look forward to sharing info with the group!

I’ll kick myself for a long time for overlooking the tosren differential. Not because I really need it for myself, but because I think it would help the resale value. I think it’s going to be expensive to add aftermarket. I do think the bed liner is causing delays and I wish I wouldn’t haven’t opted for having the factory do it. I think the biggest reason that it causes delays is because they have to truck it to a third party to get it done and truck drivers are in short supply. I speculate it’s going to slow my delivery by at least two weeks, maybe more.

I dropped the spray in bed liner off my Tremor order because I heard it was delaying delivery. I'll just bring it to Line-X when I get it.

I got all the options I wanted, so I can't answer your other question. BUT... The Torsen differential was a must have for me.
I didn't get the Sun Roof and I don't want it.

Ditto on the sunroof. At least the Torsen would get used once in awhile :)

The moonroof is awful...save yourself many headaches (and $$$) and don't get it. Always get the Torsen.

Two mistakes on my end then lol. I added the moonroof. I had it in my 15. I actually did use it and I liked it….. when it worked. Sometimes it would take it forever to get it opened. The dealer basically told me it didn’t leak and they didn’t want to tweak because they thought it would start leaking so I should probably just live with it lol. Not the answer you want, but whatever. I assumed they didn’t have the same problems they did 6 years ago. Maybe I’m in for a disappointing surprise.

Nah, no mistake. It looks wonderful and a head turner for sure. I mean, if it was up to me I would have bought the thing without 4WD. I'm all about the looks :p

They’re crazy — get the twin panel moonroof. Never had an issue on my F150 2019 moonroof. Even when you don’t have it open, it adds so much natural light and scenery.

Agree on Torsen.

Good info and opinions. I’ve got the moon roof now and mostly just leave the cover open to let light it. I do like it for that but it rattles. Will probably get it again.

I do off-road from time to time but not serious and I live in coastal SC. In the last 400k miles I’ve driven I haven’t needed a front locker. Only time was doing a weekend off-roading event years again trying to find the limits of a vehicle. Maybe the Torsen would be better for resale but I doubt anyone in my area would care.

I’m with you. Not enough problems to offset the awesomeness!

- If you could have one option on your truck that you didn't get, what would it be? Tailgate with the step...been trying to figure out aftermarket options and can't find any

I would think that was a pretty standard feature. If not, wait a few months and get a tailgate off a wrecked truck.

I ordered w/Torsen and moonroof. I wouldn't omit something on my build just because someone had issues w/their previous experience. I'm sure for every person that had a problem there's at least 10 that didn't have issues (except for Gen 2 Raptor cam phasers). I also agree w/you that if they did have consistent issues from several years ago they'd have taken steps to rectify.

Bottom line... My opinion is a moonroof on your build isn't a mistake if you think you're gonna enjoy it.

I'm on my 3rd repair with it for rattles and I don't even use it. The dealer said it's one of the most common failure points on the F150s and they are constantly repairing them.

I absolutely hate the heat transfer during the summer and my shade is closed 100% of the time. I like a darker cab and hate the sun beating down on me. I also don't like how the shade flaps with the windows down. Not to mention it's robbing me of payload capacity.

To each their own, but I would do a custom order solely to remove this option even if a truck with everything else I wanted was sitting on the lot. That is how much I hate it....haha.

Damn that's rough!

Like you said, to each their own. I'm hoping (like the other guys) that ford has learned their lesson on these moonroofs.

I couldn't decide on the front Torsen and figured that I'd rather have it than not.

Just put down my deposit with Granger.

Don’t listen to him — his head rattles — look at his rotor head. ;-). Of course he doesn’t use it, he’s wearing a helmet most of the time anyway and helo pilots rarely have glass above them — just more switches! He likes it dark so he can see all those extra switches and yank the collective too hard. He never had payload capacity anyway —wrong model for that.

Lol

In all seriousness though, if you’re pushing the upper extreme of Baja mode (70+ mph desert sprints) everything is gonna start to rattle eventually and you may want to skip the moonroof.

RotorHead to Ford: Can I please swap out one sunroof for a Crew Chief, please????

Crap... I just had a thought! I sincerely hope RotorHead did the auto start/stop delete; can you imagine him doing EPs at every stoplight when the engine shuts off...

I didn't order the moonroof not because of problems but I know from previous vehicles I have had with them I would not use it. Also nixed the Torsen because of how it works. The driving I will be doing it will be a waste of money and no help and just add another maintenance item. I was going to order it until I did some research on what it does and how it does it

U also don't get the active package as I can drive and park it and don't want to rely on a computer to get it right as driving probably no second chances on that one lol.
