It is my understanding that Ford vehicles equipped with auto start/stop have heavier duty components like starters and ability to maintain oil pressure when the auto stop kicks in. My truck had the $50 auto start/stop removal…was the button the only component removed or was the others also removed?

The reason I ask is I saw a YouTube video of someone with a 2022 raptor buying the auto start/stop and camera button combo…the auto start/stop buttons lit up but did not work. I was wondering if enabling the feature with Forscan was all that needed done to add this back in?

Because I am looking to add it back in…this is another feature Ford added to the list of cuts. I already did the cupholder, media bin, glove box and door ambient lights. I understand some do not like the feature…to each their own.

It would be interesting to know what all was removed. If it was simply a "chip" or various other components.

I ordered the auto start/stop and camera switch (ML3Z-13D730-FB)…I’m going to do more research and check with the dealer but may ultimately enable auto start/stop to see if it works.

So the auto start stop introduces multiple problems, which Ford provides new parts to resolve, and the reasoning people have for adding the part that causes the problems is to get the new parts that are only required because of the auto start stop which creates the problems.

To each their own, but reading that over to myself again, "but why?" seems like a reasonable first post 🙃

A bit off topic; I'm curious about the door ambient lighting. I bought all of the components. How hard is the install on those? Is there a tutorial anywhere?

First time i think ive ever seen someone that wants it. Whats the reasoning behind that?

Auto start stop and this forum, name a more iconic archnemesis

Granted the auto start/stop is annoying, it was created for a reason. It “supposedly” improves fuel economy by not wasting fuel while sitting at lights or in the Starbucks line… how much does it help? Who knows.

I have wondered if the trucks I see where people are getting an average of 20mpg are trucks that still have the feature.

I’ve noticed that even a short wait in line at McDonald’s seems to have a non neglible impact on my mpg on the dash.(I know the dash mpg calc is also heavily debated). But the fact that it seems to change with a short stop, would Indicate that there is likely some impact of the start/stop feature to improve fuel economy.

I wouldn’t mind having the option to use the feature if I was so inclined.

Just playing devils advocate here. Please don’t burn me at the stake 🫣

This video explains how much gasoline is wasted when idling. It is removed on mine, but I generally don't mind the feature too much. Generally you can modulate the break pedal and the car a car will turn back on.

I'm literally tearing this light off my truck right now

😂 just don’t break the tabs off. There’s plenty of other people who’d like to have them 😜

My old truck had it. It's fun in Arizona when it's 120 and auto stop kicks in. No air for a few seconds it gets hot fast.

ability to maintain oil pressure when the auto stop kicks in

There is a section of the transmission that held line pressure while in AS/S, and it's my guess that this was the actual reason for the removal. It's a whole other solenoid assembly.

That was the first thing I removed lol
