adding limited slip

Hello, I have a 401a 2024 f150 tremor. I want to add the limited slip so I went to ford and they told me I need a whole new axle and everything was like 5k. I hate ford sometimes they have no idea what they are talking about. Would it be better to bring it to a offroad shop and have them do it?

Why do you say that?
If the dealership says that’s the price and what parts are needed for them to do this conversion then it is what it is.

An aftermarket shop might charge almost or a little more than a quarter of the price you mentioned but without the factory parts and warranty.

Are you looking for a front Torsen differential?

If so - it can be added to the existing front differential housing. Only need the Torsen and some bearings

because its just a limited slip I wouldnt need a whole new axle assembly

It was a $500 option when spec'ing a 21/22/23, but I've heard ordering the actual part is close to $1,000 then you need it installed, your mileage may vary.

My 22 has every option possible except the torsen and the dumb workstation. I thought about adding the torsen, but unless you do a significant amount of off roading, I don't think it's all that necessary. I live in North Dakota where we get lots of deep snow and my 2013 FX4 never had an issue getting around and neither does my 22 t

I paid about $700 for the parts from Ford Performance and then another $575 for installation at a local offroad shop.
