Another solution for lighted cupholders

I've followed along with the thread about modifying the 22+ models to add ambient lighting in the cupholders. Seems like a fairly laborious mod to get a little bit of light.

I stumbled across these today from F150 LED's - thought it was innovative. I question the length of charge these battery powered pucks have, but interesting nonetheless. RGB adjustable, solar charge capable, apparently motion sensing so they turn on when they sense truck movement and turn off after stopped. They even have tremor-specific options - two of them:

I'd pass on these. A little too clunky. I'll do the cupholder mod if anything.

These are perfect for someone who does not know how/want to do anything in regards to removing panels, wiring, etc. However, since they only light up while in motion they are not a direct replacement for the factory lighted cup holders, which is the reason I will be doing to factory cup holder light mod.

There's a lot of info for the conversion on the F-150 gen14 forum. It looks pretty easy to do.

I did it last weekend, it's not that hard. Requires more patience than anything sourcing the parts and then taking your time with the install. Imo totally worth it, looks great. The guy that started the thread @JHForman is super helpful, and he sells the harness and LEDs. I recommend buying it from him.

I couldn't figure out why mine wasn't turning on, and it was just having the auto lamps on during the day (cup holder lights turn on with headlights), so as soon as I manually turned the lights on they worked. John answered me and gave me his number to call on a Saturday afternoon, he immediately knew what it was lmao... apparently I'm not the only dunce - really can't say enough about the work he's done on that whole thread and the quality of his harnesses.

Ill post pics in my thread when I have time, i did the media light and the cup holder light.
