The Ford Performance is $650 online. I can load it myself. Milder/safer tune. But then I'm locked in to 91+ octane.

I've been running 87 since new (34k miles so far).

MPT wrote back and said to use their tunes, I'd have to source a 2022 ECU, get the programming done, and a Ford service tech with proper equipment needs to program the ECU to the truck. Ehhh, not excited about that.

5 Star wrote back and said if I use the SCT-X4, it plugs in under the hood, not the under dash port, so no unlocked of the ECU required. That would let have both 87 and 93 octane tunes.

Or if I go Ford Perf- I can just go back to stock if I run 87 (long road trip for example), and load it in for premium.

Talkin out my ass but I think JB4 might work without a '22 ECU since its a piggyback vs a flash

I have been waiting for CVF downpipes to be released before I tune but have been going back and forth between 5 Star and MPT. It seems MPT makes a bit more power than 5 Star? I am not confident the value proposition is there to require an ECU swap.

I have had the Ford Perf since October. Absolutely love it. And I've run 93 since day 1. Tried 87 early to see if there's a difference. There's a difference. Even without the tune. Price is negligible over a tank. But the twin turbo loves a little ethanol and higher octane. Why not feed it well

MPT says I'll have to buy a 2022 ECU and have a dealer program it to work with my truck. No thanks. 5 star says their XCT-4 programs directly into the ECU from under the hood instead of the OBD, so no unlocked required. But I'm leaning towards the ford performance.

I have 33,000 miles and have only run 87 octane. I put a tank of 93 in and holy crap, that a difference! Way more power and I'm getting 1-2 more MPG too. I'll put a few more tanks of 93 in there and then probably program it if I decide to keep feeding it premium.

93 is where its at. I dont see a reason to.feed it anything less. Even without the FPT.

The only reason I haven't been is that I'm a home inspector and drive a lot. It's painful to pay $.80 more a gallon each time. But I'm going to run 93 for a while and see how it goes.

Come on now…..you only live once and 93 is where it’s at. 😎

Just installed it yesterday, loving it. I've ran 91 since I got the truck. Just running high octane fuel will give you more POWER.. Now it just hauls ass. I also have the AFE HP intake that makes a deference, I'm seeing around 20lbs of boost I think its 14 stock?

Hot bananas! I think I'm gonna go FP tune, Roush intake, Borla type-s exhaust, and call it good.

Where you getting FP tune for 650?? I see it 825...

Interested in this Ford Performance Tune, where can I find more information on this?

Thanks!

I was also going to install the Roush I have a brand-new one here because it's a real clean look but the AFE from my 2015 fit and is much less restrictive, all I needed was a longer 3.25 to 3" silicone hose for it to fit.

Interesting regarding the MPG. Not too surprising, I guess, but interesting.

I've always run 87 cuz I'm cheap, made less than minimum wage, and probably spent too much on upgrades, but I had run 89 for a short while (in case I needed to syphon gas for my chain saw during Helene) and while I did see a massive improvement in MPG (from usually around 13.7 MPG with 500-600 Lbs in the back to 21MPG with over 1000Lbs in the truck enroute to North Carolina (for a short time)), generally the MPG has remained the same regardless of the 87 versus 89, even on similarly-long road trips with less gear. And I know 87 and 89 are pretty similar, so I'm not too surprised, but I was hoping for some difference.

Google it. There’s several dealerships that sell it at a discount. I found mine from a mustang tuner somewhere in the Midwest.
