Did you indeed have to remove the battery and tray to get to the wiring?

Kinda. The bunch of wires is taped so it's difficult to get at them without moving the battery. If you do it once though, you won't need to next time.

Definitely worth removing the battery you won’t regret it! I believe they do this as a form of energy isolation to protect ecm’s just make sure you take a pic of the wiring colour codes on the owners manual screen before you pull it out.

When you disconnected the battery did you have to reset the electronics when you reinstalled everything?

Only thing that I had to re do was the my screen options I had to re select that’s on a 401a screen

You can reach them easy enough without disconnecting the battery.

i had to take my battery out. no way to splice into the wires, they seem way to short from factory to me..

I took the battery completely out, they is literally no room to work if you don't. Even with the battery out, I was thinking, this is all the slack I get?

Worth it though.
