Have a question for anyone else with the B&O Unleashed option in their truck. Do you actually hear anything coming from the speakers in your head rests? I don’t hear anything, almost like they aren’t hooked up. I also have a tinny ringing sound coming from the big speaker in my driver’s side door so will need to get that looked at, just curious if I need to bring up the head rests as well.

Go into the audio settings and see if you have it set for surround , there may even be a test setting in there which tests each speaker. I can't remember, there's also an a video I posted in the hidden features topic that discusses something about a tip to get into the audio diagnostic settings, the video was based on sd tremor but most of the things relate.

I already have it set to surround, I will look around to test audio settings but I have messed around with it a bunch and didn’t see much. If I’m missing something I’ll be thrilled.

Ok. This is huge issue for me! I have been trying to figure out. It's bothering me because I paid extra for this system on my custom order. They only time I really feel like the B&O system is being used to its full potential (all speakers i.e ceiling) is when I am picking up HD radio signals or playing from Sirius XM. I have Apple Music playing losses audio through Apple car play, and I hooked up iPhone through wired USB and I feel like its only playing in half the speakers! It still sounds good, but the I know the system has so much potential. I am no audio expert, but I can tell there is a huge difference between the sources. I also have it in surround mode. I assume there is a problem where the system is receiving certain signals it doesn't play in all speakers. Please let us know if there are any car audio experts out there that can chime in. Thanks

The Sirius satellite radio stations doesn’t maximize the surround sound. I use pandora or Amazon music and I also set my fader more towards the back instead of the preset middle. Huge difference in the sound in the head rest and overhead speakers. I think it sounds perfectly this way. Hope that helps ya!!!

I hear the headrest speakers in mine. They are not overly loud, but do produce sound. I have surround sound on an my treble setting is 3/4 to the right, mid-range is 1/2, bass is 1/3. May have to do with your audio settings and source.

I think that I would try fading the rear more and seeing how that helps as well... they are behind you technically. So this is a great point @Larry Clark brought up here.

I have tried all that and nothing. I’ll mess around some more but may have the dealer check to make sure everything is hooked up correctly.

I keep waiting for Mike Leavy to whisper sweet downcountry nothings in my ear while listening to the Pinkbike podcast but maybe podcasts don’t use the full unleashed capabilities??

Keep in mind, they are more ambient than full range.
If you use apple music, search for spatial audio and you'll get a bunch of music that has been encoded for surround.
On regular music, I don't hear much from the headrest speakers but when playing music with spatial audio, it's obvious.

I've had this same exact issue and questions. I'm going to try what Larry recommended above. Up to this point, I switch between Sirius and YouTube music, have it on surround sound but set dead in the middle. I'll see if moving more towards the back speakers helps and try Amazon music.

I paid the extra for the "unleashed" option. I was expecting more higher end sound quality from this option. I have not heard any sound from the headrest speakers at all. This is somewhat of a disappointment for sure. :(

I thought the same at first. So SiriusXM and fm doesn’t really support the surround sound system. First make sure your in surround sound and then adjust your fade more towards the back and then listen to a station like Amazon music or pandora does ok also. Once you get everything right the sound is amazing in my opinion. Hope this helps ya

I too have the B&O Unleased and did some digging (Google, YouTube, etc.) for the same reason. The headrest speakers (2 mounted in each headrest) are for subtle "atmospheric" effect only and are not the main drivers for normal stereo or surround music (or podcasts). Totally agree with Larry Clark, once adjusted and using a source that supports real surround (like ATMOS)... the B&O Unleased is amazing.

How does Spotify sound when using the system?
Spotify is mostly my primary music source when driving and it sounds really good to me. Surround, not stereo. My fader is placed just behind the rear cupholders just behind the front seats. I did move my truck equalizer to about 80% on the treble and bass, and moved the mid down a notch or two under half. I also made my equalizer in Spotify look about the same and made all my quality of streaming to the highest quality. Most of the playlists I bounce around to sound really good, and if you search Dolby atmos or spatial audio playlists, you’ll really hear the full capabilities of the surrounding speakers and above.

I followed Larry's advice (adjusted fade to behind front seats and set to surround sound) a couple weeks back and the sound is much better. I now feel like I got what I paid for and really like the unleashed system.

Will do this tomorrow. Have only used Sirius so far and a little disappointed it doesn't support the full surround, but I have Spotify so I'll try that. Thanks for sharing guys.

I personally think Unleashed sounds pretty good. Is it as good as a super high end custom sound system? No..... but much better than my '14 FX4 with the Sony upgraded system w/ sub. I too moved the fade more towards the rear, just behind the front seats and also have it set to "surround". I'm pretty happy with it and this is coming from a guy who used to spend thousands on custom audio systems in my vehicles when I was younger. Maybe I'm just getting old.....

I was able to get a fair amount of sound by adjusting FADE toward the back of truck. This then allowed me to hear more sound from the headrest speakers. Thanks for update - helps!

Good to hear all of the feedback and tips on making it sound best.
I drove a loaner ‘21 lariat a few months ago and thought the unleashed system sounded pretty good with the following comments:

1. It should be louder. I don’t listen to very loud music often but I was able to turn it all the way up (no distortion) and it was about as loud as my ‘15 at 75%. Kind of like having a truck with a rear locker and front torsen - I will rarely use it but want to know it’s available.
2. The rear sliding glass rattles and is something I will need to address or I won’t be listening to any music. Has anyone come up with a solution for this? My 1990 model Silverado single cab with two 10’s and one 12” rattled but could be solved by cracking the rear glass a little. Can’t be having rattles while I’m bumpin my Too Short!
