Has anyone installed a bed extender? I have my tonneau cover coming tomorrow and I hate when things in the bed slide all the way back. I love the original Ford bed extender that comes apart in the middle and folds back tight to the sides of the bed. I always used the factory one but there are no threaded holes in the side of the bed.

I got the Amp Research bed extender and love it. It's super lite, really easy to remove, and has been extremely helpful so far. Also got the mounting hardware. You can either pay for the mounting kit and use existing holes or follow the directions and drill your own to save a few bucks with the base kit.

I've had the ford 2 piece bed extender in every truck I've owned since it came out. It is absolutely awesome and is literally the first thing I buy for every truck. You have holes, might just be covered with bedliner. Believe it's a new model for 21+ trucks though so make sure to get the correct one

Typically I just use a bungee net, that way I can move it anywhere, including strapping stuff into the bed or trailer, even on top of the tonneau. They also have on that includes rails that replace the bed system tie downs that slides back and forth and can be used for mounting other rail options.

Yep I see that now

This is the type you are talking about?

I've got this one installed. I'll get pics of it tomorrow.

Riv nuts are your friend in this instance. That way you don’t have to remove the tail light. Let me find some more info.

That is the one. I ordered it and will just have to take out the taillights to put nuts on the back of the bolts to make it work. I will let you know how it works.
Removing the tail light is incredibly easy and the wiring harness is long enough so you don't have to disconnect it while you put the nut on the back side. The one that I installed was done the same way. If you zoom in you can see the brackets that I had to mount. There are tons of videos on how to take the tail lights out of an f-150, it pretty much hasn't changed for the past 20 years. Remove two self-tapping, I think they're 8 mm or 7 mm bolts right where the tailgate edges meet the bed. Grasp the tail light and pull backwards and it will pop right off. Like I said the wiring harness is long enough, at least on mine to set the tail lights on the tailgate still connected... If you're concerned with disconnecting the harness.
