Hi All,

Looking for a behind the grill LED single row light bar for the new tremor. Any suggestions?

I'm looking into a single row solution but need to find time to do my fmic and hidden winch, first.

So I’ve started looking at this too. Really like the behind the grille stealth look.

I was playing with one of my diode dynamics ssc2’s and see 2 options.

First up, the obvious place. The openings either side of the emblem. Could recess the lights back in a little.

Second option, my preference at the moment. Behind the lower portion of the grille. The top doesn’t work due to less space from the louver system. There is a center potion of the louver system that likely prevents a solid bar across, but could do a bar on each side, or multiple smaller lights to customize beam type.

Obviously, mounting will require some kind of bracket system. Whenever I get some time and some money, I’m going to try and come up with something.

as you can see here this was posted in another thread, if anyone can find some way to do this cheaper I'm in.

Well now. That’s pretty slick! That price tag is pretty steep and largely driven by buying two Baja light bars that are grossly over priced in my opinion. The brackets themselves are super simple. Not sure if they have a patent or anything on the design or not.

Not that my idea of a bunch of ssc2’s is cheap, cause it not. Haha. But I think I like the lower portion of the grille.

Yes Baja designs really likes their lights....not saying they aren't quality, but come on these are LEDs, the require a housing, reflector and lense cover, add in seals and proprietary program for the LEDs and your done. It doesn't cost them even a hundred dollars to do

On my Polaris ranger UTV I had a rigid up front and put a $19 dollar harbor freight special on the rear for when I'm plowing snow and it has lasted 4 yrs no issues, but had to replace the rigid under warranty.

Yeah I would do it if it cost half. I just can't justify that dollar value for a light bar. Got other things to spend that on... >:]

Started modeling up a bracket last night. I don’t have the attachments to the grille yet. Need to get my grille off again to see how to do it. But I also modeled a crude diode dynamics ssc2 and added it to see that the setup will kind of look like.

Finally got around to installing these Baja Designs Squadron Behind the Grill for the Raptor. They do fit besides our grill design blocking them. Easiest thing to do was to just add the Raptor Grill. It should work but didn't want to change my grill to a Raptor one, so ultimately decided to cut away. It was tough decision. Didn't know how it would come out and I think brand new grills are around $800-900. I butchered the grill a little cutting out that piece out. I was going to add grill mesh but couldn't decide so left it off. The lights are just exposed. I didn't have time to hook up the electrical yet but will do it sometime this week. I am happy how it came out. Just curious on the light output once I have everything hooked up.

I admire the ingenuity. Same game I played cutting holes in my bumper for recessed rear lighting. Did you have to remove any shutters to compensate for the depth? I’m very close to caving and buying the external Baja linkable kit. I’ve been holding my breath hoping that @Cblaxx19 will fabricate brackets like the one he used, but I know he is a busy dude.

i could make the file available as is and explain the modifications i made to it to make it work. you could source the bracket yourself through a couple of different online metal working vendors. buying a single bracket though will be about $150 from any of the companies i quoted for mine

I attached some pics. The Baja Designs instructions for this Raptor kit is to actually remove 4 of the bottom shutters. Use shutter hole 2 and 3 from the bottom for their bracket. I believe our shutter set up is the same or very similar to the Raptor. Depth isn't really an issue. Good amount of clearance. I tried to mount on the very bottom hole of the shutters, but the bottom of bracket didn't clear. Lights would have been too low anyway. It looks like you could mount the brackets on the upper holes of the shutters, but there is the horn on the left side. Horn looks like it may affect the depth but that could probably be relocated if needed. There is the whole grill getting in the way if you were to mount kit at different heights, but I believe is doable. The shutters are easy to remove, and you can always put them back. The shutters system still functions, it's just missing the bottom 4. The kit doesn't damage or alter the shutter system in anyway. The Baja kits are pricey but if you can get brackets made similar to the Baja ones, you'll have quite of few options in terms of lighting. Going that route may be much more cost effective. Just would have to play around with fitment.
I know @ Cblaxx 19 has already figured all this stuff out a while ago and would know way more than me on this subject. Yes he is a busy dude. I was looking at the Baja linkable kit too. Can't go wrong with that either.

Awesome! Thank you for posting. Do you recall how high the brackets sit up from the bottom of the grille? What I'm getting at is that I'm curious if the OnX6 kit would sit lower at the top of the light housing than the squadron kit, making it so the light fits within the borders of the lower mesh opening.

comparing pictures of where the onx6 bars sit in the raptor grille and our grille, i think they would end up mostly behind the lower solid bar across the grille. not 100% positive but it looks that way from some photos i've looked at.

Can you buy this bracket off the shelf?

I don't think Baja Designs sells just the bracket but not 100% sure. I don't know if other companies offer these type of brackets or something similar. I know guys here have been fabricating their own brackets. The shutter louver system in the F-150 is a good place to mount the brackets once you remove some of those louvers.

Do you have the dimensions of the louvers? Would a 30 in bar fit between the housing? Thanks
