Looking for options for bike rack to go on top of Bakflip F1 cover. Not looking for a fork mount that requires removing the front wheel, and don't want to put in the bed in order to keep covered storage space. Any great ideas / pictures?

Thule T2, this is in my old truck, have an attachment to hold 4 bikes total.

This is the rack I really preferred, in the bed, with the backflip opened. Not a huge fan of my 6k bikes hanging off the back.

I feel you on that but I honestly went with a hitch mount as well and have no regrets, I will have to check the brand I went with but it tucks in close and can be expanded to hold 4 bikes, I use it for 3. The main reason I went with the hitch mount is that I can use it with any of the vehicles including the UTV, works great for downhill runs, drive to the top, have your wife or kid take it back to the bottom while you air it out on the way down.

For sure, I have the Thule t2 for riding with friends, the gator is for just me.

Fun fact I built my own in bed bike rack when I was in college, used it for 6 yrs. Till I traded the truck. It worked great, just got tired of lifting it in and out all the time. Even sold a few to people at 24hrs of snowshoe one year. I think I made six after that race for people.

VeliciRax are AMAZING if you need to haul a lot of bikes and is what I’m replacing the wife’s Kuat NV with as the NV maxes out at4 bikes, weights 4.2 metric shit tonnes and is approximately 69’ long. It has served us well but it’s time to move to better things. For my truck I’d be happy with a single OneUp just so I can keep the Tonneau down in the winter, but the tailgate pad is just way to easy for the rest of the year and I’m really lazy.

BDE, mind sharing which in-bed bike rack you use, and any opinions/experience with what works well and what doesn't? Looking to haul 4 bikes in bed (2 adult, 2 kid), with MX4 folded, and def a bonus if easily removable when needed. Have thought about fabricating something, but if I can purchase a manufactured rack that checks the boxes, would rather go this route. Thanks

When I had my f250 with the 6'10" bed I used the Thule gator bike rack. It's nice because it mounts between the tailgate and bed. Easy in and out with bikes and the rack itself. I haven't tried it in the 5.5 bed yet, I imagine you'd have to shift the rear wheel to the side.

When I take more than one bike now I use my Thule t2. That way I get the full bed. I know a lot of people like the tailgate pad but I'm not sold on laying a carbon frame on top of that.

Realistically a tailgate pad would be your best bet. The Thule gators are like 3 bills a piece or something crazy now. I thought 175 was crazy.

This is similar to what I have for a really good price, holds any style or size.

1 Up is a great rack, I have a Kuat Sherpa 2 and getting ready to upgrade to the Piston Pro X
https://www.kuat.com/product/piston-pro-x/
Dang, that Piston Pro’s expensive for only holding two bikes. That single version would be super sweet for the roof, bed cover or bed rack set up. It would make it easy to hold the bike with one hand hand and have the piston do its thing. Still a fan of the VeloxiRax hanging style rack.

Appreciate the info/pics, @BDE and all.

I like that Gator, may give it a try. Def pricey, whew.. but looks super convenient. Imagine the same, re 5.5 bed, will have to get out and do some test fitting when I have a minute.

Have had a Yakima hitch mount for a few years, from SUV days, but similar to other comments on thread, thing is a freakin workout to get it on/off hitch, and would just rather have bikes up in the bed ideally. Hitch is always an option if bed full on out-of-town trips.

Will post pics/comments if I end up going with Gator.
