👋Hi folks! I’m new here and just got my first truck ever. Loving it so far!

Two questions:
  1. does it have automatic walk-away door locks?
  2. Is it normal that the shifter lever feels a little loose and cheap when moving between park and drive and stuff?

Congrats on your new ride and welcome to the forum.

Unless something has changed for the 2024 F150, no, it doesn’t lock itself when you walk away.

As far as how the shifter feels, I’m sure it’s no different than the console shifter in every other F150 but then again, it probably has something to do with the shifter having the ability to fold down.

With that being said, if you’re concerned about it, just stop by the service department at your preferred Ford dealer.

does it unlock when you walk up? My truck wakes up but it doesnt unlock.

Yes. It unlocks when I approach. But it doesn't auto-lock when I walk away. I'm very used to autolocking in other cars, so I'll have to get used to locking the truck explicitly.

Walk Away Lock is possible on 2024s, but has to be enabled via a tool called Forscan; there is some light reading at the following thread on the tool itself and how to use:

Forscan is pretty user friendly once you use it a time or two.

I will agree with you on the shifter, my 2018 felt tighter and just better overall quality. Good luck with it.

My 2023 doesn’t unlock but like you, it does wake up upon approach / within the set distance of the Intelligent Access System.

23 and older do not unlock on approach, you have to touch the inside of the front door handle.

Do we have confirmation that the 24s unlock on approach? So you could open the back door without first touching the inside of the front door handle?

Looks nice. I have the same thing! I got the pro tailgate delete as well.

Just picked up my 2024 end of last week. I have not noticed walk-away door locks, but I can confirm that it unlocks on approach (setting default?). I agree, the shifter is a little loose, but that may be due to the fold down capability.

Things on my todo list for this truck:
swap antenna to stubby one $30
add rear seat release kit $35

tint front windows to match back windows $150-250
tint front windshield (mostly to reduce glare)? $175-275
add subwoofer - probably under bench $$
aux lights? backup lights in bumper? $$

That not true. My 23 unlocks on I approach.
It is convenient, but annoying when I'm doing things around the yard with it constantly unlocking turning on its light.

As far as the shifted goes. I was very annoyed when I first got the truck with all of the play when in Park. At first I couldn't get the thing into Drive, but realized that there is a lot of play in Park, and I have to almost 'click' it into a slightly more forward position. I call this position Park Plus. I've grown accustomed to it by now though.

Interesting,
I wonder why my 2023 doesn’t unlock upon approach.
I guess I need to look into the settings menu.

Mine has approach lights and a relay clicks to turn them on....sounds like door locks but are not (23 402A)

I agree and mine does exactly what you mentioned.

I wonder if the poster thinks the doors are unlocking because they hear the clicking.

With that being said, I really don’t see a reason for the doors to unlock when approaching the vehicle because one has to grab the handle anyway.

You're exactly right, CAMDENN. My apologies. I just went out to test this. I approached the truck, courtesy lights come on and clicking begins. It isn't until I touch the handles when it unlocks. I repeated the test by approaching the locked truck with keys in pocket (lights up), and then tossing my keys far away and then touching the handle - no unlocking. Thanks for setting me straight!

Do you see the door plunger in the up position on approach or do you just hear clicking upon approach.

Or course it’s going to pop up when you put your fingers behind the front door handle(s)

You are correct and I'm mistaken. On approach, the taillights illuminate and I hear a click, but the door lock plunger is still down and doesn't unlock until I put fingers behind handle. Not really sure of the intent of this approach feature?

Kind've a way of letting you know you're within range to open/unlock the front doors or drop the tailgate. Also turns on puddle lights
