Hey Everyone,

So yesterday I picked up my 2022 Tremor. As I was activating the Ford Pass and and other things at the dealership, I got a message that Blue Cruise was active and ready to use for 3 years. So on my drive home, naturally I tried it out. I was pretty impressed. It definitely "drove the truck" with steering and throttle inputs, even changed lanes. Of course it did not navigate changes on different streets or perform like a full auto pilot, but it worked quite well for what I expected.

I just wanted to know others experience with this. Just a week or two ago I was doing research and was led to believe it was still not activated. How do you like it? Any tips tricks or things you've learned so far if you have used it?

Question.
Did you have to purchase a special package to get the BC activation? I'm a little confused about whether I will have it on my truck or not.

What do you mean “change lanes”? When I put my signal on to switch lanes, it cancels BC and then once I’m centered in the next lane it comes back on.

As long as you have Ford active package on a '22 it will come activated. It's on the early '21s that they didn't come activated and are still waiting for an OTA update afaik.

Hmm. I'll have to try again when I am out on a highway again, because I only tried it once yesterday. I put my signal on, and it delayed but then I moved to the left lane. I was literally on my way home from the dealership. Maybe it was just dumb luck and the crest of the road. I did feel like I had to center it into the next lane. I'll try again next change I have and report back.

Doing a quick google search, it doesnt seem like it can change lanes. I'll try again, but maybe I was delusional.

No worries. Understandable that there were a lot of things to check out being that you finally received your truck and overwhelmed with all the new stuff going on in it. I definitely hope that one day I can put an address in and it’ll just go there without my input. But on some longer drives, how BC is now is a really nice feature. Just always seems like mine hugs the right of lane a tad more than center. Most times I’ll hit the rear camera button and see the lines and I’m pretty centered though.

My salesman told me he had a customer who used a cornhole bag and tested it on the bottom part of the steering wheel so he didn’t have to keep his hands on the wheel. This may be for those of us without blue cruise. When I turn on my lane assist he truck will drive down the interstate with no issues. It just warns me to put my hands back on the wheel. I’m going to try a bean bag and see if that works.

I picked up a Tremor off the lot in October which has Blue Cruise installed and activated. My first experiences using it had me concerned that I was going to be reported for drunk driving. I also had a fairly scary moment when the system tried to turn into a non-highway speed turning lane rather than staying in its own lane. Although these were not Blue mapped roads, the system will still activate and is more of a lane centering tool. In those areas, the hands on wheel alerts appear every 15 seconds and from my experience with the turning lane, that is a good thing.

The system does work better on the blue mapped routes and there is more time between the hands on alerts. However, I still have reservations about the reliability of the system on those roadways.

Regardless of where I have used it, the system has a tendency to bias the truck towards the centerline.

Of course, updates can eventually solve some of these issues and probably should be disabled when not on interstate highways. In my opinion, Blue Cruise isn't a useful feature yet and in certain situations could be dangerous.

This. This is the hack for those of us without full blown blue cruise... watched a YT video showing something similar. Won't ever be able to type in an address and take a nap- but pretty nice- I used it in Boston traffic this week, that with the adaptive cruise, makes dealing with stop and go effortless.

Is there any word on what Blue Cruise will cost per month after the 3 year period? i know Tesla wants to charge ~$250 per month for their autopilot, no way i'd pay that unless i'm running a taxi business

Iirc is $600/year

Congrats on the Baddest Ass truck in the market😎. If you have seen my video before my apologies for posting it again. I did not even know it was included when I purchased mine. You will see this comment since this is last fall. I have learned a lot since then and lane switch it cancels. It is awesome but at the same time border line dangerous. I took her to Fl over the holidays 985 miles in one day. Awesome but can attest if you get too comfortable behind the wheel and have a sleepy mode the BC does not make a noise when it turns off.😳

Mine chimes when it cancels?

This is what I saw in a video. Makes sense also.

Will find out on the 1600 miles home next week. If I don't make it, you guys can have a fight to the death for my truck and accessories.

If you crash make sure it's close by here 😁, it would be nice to have a parts truck. Jk, I think you'll be fine.

Update: Now that I've had a little more time with my truck and using the Blue Cruise, I have some things to share. I was incorrect in stating that it changed lanes. Apparently it just drifted over a lane when I activated my blinker, which disabled the Blue Cruise. Coincidence.

There are 2 levels of autopilot. On non Blue Cruise mapped roads, you can activate your lane keeping and cruise control, and the system will do a pretty good job of driving you along. You must keep your hands on the wheel, provide some feedback to the truck and eyes forward. This is pretty good, but not full out driving for you.

On Blue Cruise mapped roads, the dash changes to a different display, and says Hand Free on it. For example, near me is Interstate 4 (I-4), and it's Blue Cruise mapped. This is full out autopilot, except it still does not change lanes (maybe in a future update). You can take your hands off the wheel and it will not get upset with you. The only thing it's really watching from the driver is your eyes and hand position. For example, I held my phone up like was looking at it, and within a few seconds it told me to keep my eyes on the road. Pretty cool system, drove me at least 20 miles like this. You can even wear sunglasses, but it does seem to delay the eyes on the road warning some.

Overall, it's a pretty cool system and I'm glad I got it on the truck. If I learn any more, I'll be sure to share.

I tested the Blue Cruise and it worked well. You can almost feel that this is somehow the way Skynet starts🤖. My wife and I are going from Kansas City to Palm Springs, Ca in April. That should give loads of time to learn all the features.

Drove 7 hours each way from Missoula to Sheridan Wyoming, pretty much the entire drive was blue cruise.
It's not at all self driving, doesn't exit, change lanes... basically just cruise control for the steering wheel and I really dig it.

Made the long drive so nice.
