Hi all,

My bluecruise suddenly stopped working after I got a notification that my vehicle went into deep sleep mode. It was at the retailers for 4 days getting a ceramic coat/window tint so I’m assuming I got that notification to preserve battery.

Long story short I picked it up and noticed that my blue cruise will engage but it’s not completely hands free. It’s constantly asking me to put my hands on the wheel. I get the smaller blue cruise “hands” inside the rpm meter but it doesn’t take over the screen like before if that makes sense.

I took it to the dealership today and they said Ford has a bulletin out for this but they have no idea when the OTA update will be pushed through to fix it. Any idea if this is true?? I know the Bluecruise issue can be a bear to deal with by the dealership and part of me feels like they are just punting me down the road hoping it resolves itself. Any advice?

Thanks,
Josh

Try charging the battery, preferably with an AGM rated charger that's 10 amps or bigger. Truck has a 4-5 amp draw when parked not in sleep mode, Make sure you put the negative clamp on the cable that goes to the body ground, Not the battery terminal, That way the truck knows the battery is being charged. I can totally see the truck not wanting to drive itself if the battery is low. All the sensors and electric steering rack need to be at its best if you are not holding on to the wheel.

My Blue cruise (hand free part) went away for two days last month and then suddenly started working again.
I also noticed that driving into the sun it often will not go fully hands free.

I had the same problem--my Bluecruise one day stopped going into handsfree status. The reason why (I found out) was that the Bluecruise maps expired on December 12, 2022. I cycled the ignition a few times (a signal to look for updated maps) and the handsfree came back. Go to "Setting" and "About Sync" and look at the date for handsfree expiration (image below). The last update expired in December--note the date is DD/MM/YYYY.

I guess mine doesn’t have Blue Cruise because I don’t have the “hands free driving mode available…” just ends at onboard modem
