Alright, you guys already lead me to bad financial decisions on my Tremor so I figured who better to ask right?

My girlfriend works from home, we sold her car in the market increase. Don't plan on getting another one for a few years, just cause she doesn't need it. When she does, she's been wanting a CRV.

I think Hondas are great, nothing against the car, and the CRV is legit. Being a fanboy though, i love the Bronco, and i think it's a slam dunk - the size, the function, the look, the interior, and I've heard it drives great.

She is coming around, and actually really digs the wildtrak in cactus gray. We're looking at a 4 door wildtrak with the lux package and the modular hard roof panels, I emailed chip to see what's up - see attached.

For you guys that own one - what's your take? I figure since it's a few years wait, it works perfect for our timeline, and it looks like it ticks all the boxes. Is Granger also selling these at discount?

Any downsides to the vehicle?

The ones I've played in and taken for tests drives have been great, they will ride rougher than the CR-V on road. The problem I see is your girlfriend will have a more capable off-road vehicle than you. So there goes your manhood 😁

My dealer gave me the base level 4 door Bronco to drive when they spent two days trying to install software updates. Was not a fan of the soft top in the AZ heat.. was loud and really hot. around my head It was fun to drive though..

I'm jealous. Wish I had the opportunity to get one. I was recently in a similar situation this past December. Wife needed a new vehicle. Didn't care what but needed it soon. She likes to ride higher up. Prefers 4 doors and good gas mileage due to a lot of driving for her job. Bronco was in the running. Big knocks for us were of course availability and gas mileage. Ended up getting a new CRV Hybrid. Man even that was hard to come by back then. I got lucky with that one cause somebody had changed their mind and switched to something else last minute. My wife does like the CRV. Now my chances of changing to a Bronco down the line especially with the rumored Hybrid coming out is becoming less lol.
I say jump on it while you can before she changes her mind. Don't let her test drive that CRV. Also I think the new CRV's are coming later this year. I guess that can be good or bad? After driving the Bronco for awhile I am sure she will enjoy. It may be on the rough side compared to the CRV but she'll be way cooler. You will also feel better about yourself when you need to borrow her vehicle. I am not going to lie. I do use my wife's CRV once and a while. It is a little tough after driving your truck often.
Like when I got my M3 DCT back in 08. Wife was like what so special about this car? It's overpriced she said. After I sold it, she said she misses the car

Yeah I was thinking about waiting for the CRV remodel... Supposedly they aren't going to make it look like a toy car this time around.

The gas mileage issue came up, but since she works from home she really wouldn't put a lot of miles on it.

This is secretly my master plan .... Turn the bronco into the adventuremobile lol

My girlfriend loves how the tremor drives, can't imagine the bronco drives much more rough even with the 35s?

It does, which the Tremor I think rides like it's on clouds till you hit a pothole, the bronco wasn't meant to be plush it was meant to be rough and rowdy, if you get the wild track though it may be a more plush ride, it was intended to be the Baja runner till they released the raptor version.

My thought also is that if I lock in pricing now and it comes in two years, i hedged against price increases?

I've got this showing up hopefully next week:

Wildtrak - Lux but with a soft top.

We were lucky enough to be able to test drive a Wildtrak soft top for two days from a local dealer and put a few hundred miles on it.

Road impressions: Much better than I thought. I've had plenty of vehicles with 33's and 35's but this one rode better than them all. I really couldn't believe how well it road. We got about 3/4 of a mile down the road (wife driving) and she turned her head and said "I want it". Coming from an Infiniti QX70, this will be an improvement on road.
We had rented a jeep wrangler hard top for a week in the Fl Keys a few months before and this thing blew that one away. So much of a better ride and so much faster. < That's the other thing - maybe it was the fact that I expected it to be a slug like my buddy's lifted 4runner but the one we test drove with the 2.7 moved pretty quick.

Interior: It's hard for me to describe the interior. I really like it but its not a fancy interior like a Plantinum/Lariat. It feels premium enough while also feeling like it will stand up to abuse. I think its a good mix. (The one we test drove was High package).

Soft top: It was noisy but its a soft top. I really don't understand when people are surprised that they can hear wind/road noise when the only thing separating them from the outside is 1/16" of fabric and vinyl windows. That said, we could still easily talk without raising voices at 60mph. We went back and forth on the hard vs soft top and ultimately, we live at the beach and want to be able to drop the top in a matter of seconds to enjoy the outside. I'll probably end up with a slant back soft top eventually just because they look cool.

Hope this helps. I'm sure I'll post up here when it comes in. Feel free to ask any questions.

Great info, thank you!

I like the modular hard top because you can still remove it, but it's better with road noise. So I'm opting for that - not sure why the soft top is so much more expensive without really better function or benefits as far as I can tell.

Mind asking how much yours was out the door?

I have my Wildtrak (MIC top, lux, HOSS 3.0 etc) scheduled for build in June from Granger (orginal reservation July 2020); the order banks are currently closed so ordering now is not possible. I am assuming they will open back when the 2023 build and price is up.

Just heard from Chip, he said check back around September.

I'm in a similar situation and same secret plans as above to make it my rig. Where I sold it to my wife was she could go anywhere, with the dogs and not worry about several of he previous issued taking a sorento off road. Now yo guide her on how much she wants the everglades with the spray out interior...

Never underestimate the power of patience and subtle manipulation. If you can make them think it's their idea, you've got a really good chance.

Oh shit man I didn't know you could literally spray the interior on that one. Was wondering what the premium was for. I'd totally get that

I think the premium is leather, etc. The boat vinyl is supposed to be somewhat water proofed to allow for easier cleanout

I'm trying to talk to wife into getting a raptor bronco. She wants a volvo v90.

Not sure if you have seen one yet or not.... The cactus grey is not a normal color. I know someone with a cactus ranger and its like a sea foam/grey/modeling clay type deal. I would definitely recommend seeing one in person before ordering if you haven't already. I've been looking at it for about a month and still can't decide if I like it or not.
