Has anyone done any camping out of the bed of their Tremor? Love to see any setups with hard toppers, DIY sleeping platforms, etc. Given the short length of the box, I'd be curious to see how people are utilizing that space to sleep, etc.
See I'm the opposite. I want to be able to pull up to my camp spot and just hop in the back. Most of my camping is done in pretty cold/nasty weather and temps (late fall, winter and early spring here in Ontario) so the appeal to me is to have everything all set up as soon as arrive at my destination (and hopefuly with the Tremor that destination can be pretty remote lol)I would do the tent with the ladder up if it were me, keep the bed for storage.
Planning some camping as well. I’m 6’4”. Doesn’t make for a comfy night in a 5.5’ bed, unless you have room to sleep diagonal. I may attempt to sleep on an elevated platform and see if that little sliding rear window on the cab is enough to comfortably fit both feet (or my head?) through. Doubt it.See I'm the opposite. Neat idea. Certainly applaud the effort and execution. Seems like a lot of work, expense, and weight to add to the truck while also minimizing utility or configurability of the bed while it’s in there. Sleeping in the bed in the cold is...well...cold. The cold air underneath the bed sucks the heat from your pad/sleeping gear. Gotta invest in some good gear - high R value pad, bag, etc about any way you do it.My plan is to sleep on the diagonal as I would like to be able to sleep with the tailgate up and topper closed etc. I have seen these guysdo an interesting "addition" allowing him to sleep lengthwise....
For sure about the insulation and sleeping bag. I have a great winter sleeping pad (R value of 11.4) and a -60C down sleeping bag so I'm covered from that angle. I hear memory foam is a great insulator, although it gets hard in cold temps until your body heat warms it up. I think what I'll likely end up doing is building a platform up to the level of the wheel wells and then sleep on the diagonal inside the bed that way. I'll be able to use under the platform for slide-out storage and maybe build some type of simple shelf in each of the corners of the bed. I would want something I could remove easily as camping won't be the majority of what I use the truck for (not until I retire anyway lol)Neat idea. Certainly applaud the effort and execution. If that came with room service, I could totally get my wife to go camping! My RTT sets up in 15 minutes.
How much was this with rack and tent?My RTT sets up in 15 minutes.
It's pricey, I went with a more premium tent and it's really paid off. 4k for the tent, the Thule adjustable rack was another 1k. Since the photo I've added a few more accessories too.How much was this with rack and tent?
I got the retrax that has the rail slots so I could put a rack and a tent like this on my next mountain trip.
Holy shit I was not expecting 5k lol. I could pay for a savage airbnb for multiple trips before that. It's pricey, I went with a more premium tent and it's really paid off. 4k for the tent, the Thule adjustable rack was another 1k. Since the photo I've added a few more accessories too.
Well we go over landing deep into the rockies and it's paid for itself over the last 7 years many times over. You can go much cheaper but the quality goes way down. I needed a tent that would sustain all the crazy storms and weather changes we experience, plus house a wife, child and 2 dogs.Holy shit I was not expecting 5k lol. Will have to wait until I live near the camping spots one day and can get many times a year use of it. Looks great.
No it makes great sense for where you live, love it. Excellent for camping. In Miami I wouldn't get enough use to justify it.Well we go over landing deep into the rockies and it's paid for itself over the last 7 years many times over. I've added a few extra options since that first picture.
I would think a boat is a better buy down in Miami hahaha. No it makes great sense for where you live, love it. Excellent for camping. In Miami I wouldn't get enough use to justify it.
Enjoy it!
