I have a 2023 Tremor 401a with the work surface console. It is terribly annoying that when you open the console lid it falls right back down. Am I the only one here with this issue?

Simple physics.

I have owned many many vehicles and all have been designed with springs or a mechanism to keep it open once you open it. So ford put some under designed spring in these consoles?

But did said previous vehicles have the same type of functionality.

See Jacobs post above!

Understood, and I have seen it. I would prefer a less janky fix personally. Like a stiffer spring replacement
While janky, you never really see it. We shouldnt have to do it, but we also shouldnt have to add back lighted cup holders, heated steering wheels, etc. This console lid fix is at least a lot cheaper than those.

I searched nickel trick and only sends me back to this thread.....anyone care to sum it up or share a link?

I have the same pet peeve on the lid....

edited: disregard.....found youtube and google results

This drives me crazy and I have no desire to have the work surface. Complete waste of a forced option (everything I looked at around me had it).

I did the nickel fix. Actually did it on the drive home from Iowa with 4 nickels and a little super glue. Janky or not, it absolutely fixed it and you can't see or tell the nickels are there.

Twenty’s can’t fix 😆

Just a tip for those doing this- using a little flathead screwdriver is very finicky. Try using some needle-nose pliers to grab and pull the spring part. I used a multitool and pulled it right out, making it easy to slip the nickels in there.

Does anyone know if the non-work surface lid stays open? I really hate trying to hold up the lid along with opening the console safe too.
