Just wondering how many of you use or would use the center console desk/work station? My Tremor w/402a doesn’t have it-but I plan to install the OEM safe.

I have it and to be honest with you have not used it once yet…other than to show others lol

I bought mine off the lot, so it came with. I’m not sure I would have paid for it if I would have built my truck, but I find myself using it with ever ForScan change I make & it keeps me from dropping any fast food between the seats when eating in the truck….

I actually used it once. I was on the move for work and had just bought a Plate Lunch to eat. I was about to eat it on my lap and then it hit me. I have the Work station option. It came with Truck as I purchased off lot. It was great. I don't know if that would justify the $165 option. Here is the Plate Lunch from Yama's Fish Market. It is the #7 on the menu. Lau Lau, Kalua pig and Lomi Salmon with Rice. Good stuff if you are ever in Honolulu Hawaii and crave Hawaiian Food.

@808 Tremor plate lunch looks awesome, the best Kaula pig we can get in the continental US is L&L and I have not found one anywhere near Memphis.

I did order the work surface, as I am in construction and find myself awkwardly working on my laptop in my current Silverado at least once a week. There is usually lunch in the truck as well. I think it jumped up to a $200 option for the 22’s but I justified it; if I use it once a week it is worth it. Can see that others might not though.

I ordered the workstation since it is only a $165 option.
But...... I don't understand Ford. Ford went through all the design expenses and the production expenses for the stowable shifter. Every F150 with floor shifter has the stowable shifter.
The only reason that I can think of for having the stowable shifter is to accommodate the use of the workstation.
So at that point they should have just made the workstation a feature instead of an option or if you don't get the workstation, you don't get the stowable shifter. After all the big expense is the shifter itself.

I also haven't used mine except to show others- mine came with it, but same at $165 would probably have ordered it. I recall a few times over the years I would have used it.. mainly for food, but also the occasional "damn I forgot to get/fill in the card for the party".

Well this makes me sad. Sitting in my 401a for the first time I noticed and realized the stowable shifter was stock. So I should have ordered the workstation. What good is a syowable shifter without it?

I haven't looked at the actual mechanism, and currently parts searches are showing previous gen console.. I'm guessing eventually you may be able to order one.. ? Probably need to find someone with one and just compare if just the cover or if more to it.. I can try to take some pics

I'll take a closer look on Friday when I get the truck.

I only ordered it on mine bc otherwise the 5" of dead space that is the standard console top would annoy the hell out of me.

This! That was literally the first thing I said to myself whel opening up the console.. Well, "How do I open this top part" Then, did they really waste this much space AND include a stowable shifter?

By dead space so you mean the console armrest is just thicker if you don’t have the work surface? I didn’t order it and now I’m wondering what it will look like.

Just a thick armrest, doesn't bother me. The spring is weak on it which is annoying.

i use my all the time for writing on. And it is a great lunch table lol.

I ordered mine mostly for when on road trips and camping trips with the family and we stop for a bite to eat - great spot to spread out the burgers and fries or the sandwiches from the cooler without getting junk all down in the cupholders and shifter and the rest of the console. (But I've got a 9yo and 6yo to wrangle in the process).
Would also be a good spot to write checks (you remember those?) and do any other writing or laptopping but that's less frequent for me.
