Cheap ass seats

Yesterday I went out to give the truck a quick cleaning. When I noticed the seat had torn out of the stitches. I believe only that inserts are real leather and the rest of it is vinyl. It's got to be the thinnest vinyl I've ever felt. Pretty disappointed in the quality of this truck. And it's only has 4600 miles on it. Last year they had to replace the right dynamic headlight at 3800 mi. I do believe my 15 was built a lot better than this newer one. I drive an old 2008 Lexus, the leather seats have held up great, it's a shame the Fords are so cheap.

Mine looks exactly the same. I thought it was supposed to be leather but that is clearly not the case. sliding out of the seat takes its toll. I am looking for a possible fix. I saw on another post it was like 500 bucks for a new lower seat cover replacement

Well it's a 23 and it's only got 4,600 mi on it. So they are going to replace my seat. I'm pretty sure the new seats are just like furniture when you buy it most of the new furniture is only leather where your body touches, everything else is vinyl. The problem is the vinyl they used is super thin. I only weigh 200 lb it's not like I'm a fat ass destroying the seat!

Yeah, only the middle portions of the seats have leather. Manufacturers have been doing this for years. Actually it’s because the vinyl holds up better to wear and maintenance. I think Ford has begun using some new eco friendly vinyl…

Not an excuse for ripping so quickly, but def make sure you're keeping them lubed up with a good moisturiser/protectant like 303

I remember when it was the top of the line like a limited or platinum plus. Now there’s 257 flavors and trims

I have these 2 tears I just found yesterday cleaning. Guess can’t hurt to see if it is covered under warranty. If not I need to find a solution to stop it. 20k seems pretty early to have seat material issues.

Your local dealer should cover it. My best bud got his replaced literally yesterday. He's got a '22 with 30k miles. His warranty was about to run out at 35k miles, and he brought the seat tears to their attention. They put the new one in yesterday free of charge.

I use 303 on other parts. Of course on real leather seats I use chemical Brothers cleaner and conditioner. I've got a 2008 Lexus that I use for a daily driver it's got 200,000 mi on it. The leather seats are in great condition and the stitches are not tearing apart. Quite a bit of difference in quality between the Ford and Lexus.

Good to know thanks. It definitely seems like it is caused by turning to get out of the vehicle, not sliding just rotating your body. You should be able to rotate and get out without this happening with less than 20k.

Yep , I love it because it does not leave a shine. Just redid my whole interior with it Monday morning

I am sure a vinyl reair is probably cheaper than full replacement. I am out of warranty and I saw an ad on ebay with PN NL3Z-1662901-EB that matched the tremor theme but was $400. I am not 100% on the part number though...Ford parts online doesn't have a picture but using the same PN from Ebay shows it as onyx black... Lowest price I have found was $257... Any chance your buddy has the PN?

Ford fixed mine, you will get a new vinyl cover replacement and off to the races

Less than 8,000 miles and the stitching on the drivers seat is coming apart. Awesome

they replaced my bottom about 2 weeks ago under warranty. The cover has wrinkles in it know. Truck is going back next week to fix the spinning update! Trusty old Lexus still going strong and the leather seats are in great shape. I do believe my 15 was built much better.

Maybe I’d be better off finding an upholstery repair shop……
