2025 F150 Tremor 401A
Just Curious , have a 2025 Tremor 5.0 engine , purchased few months ago , Great truck love it! .,Can anyone tell me why my Coolant temp At Startup always reads 86 degrees f',
after minimum warmup temp goes up and settles right where it should be 195 / 205 depending on outside temp along with not towing anything.
took it to the dealership , they did not check the truck in , But said they would look at other similar trucks to see where the start up temp read out was also checked their data base for any info w/o finding any mention of this , Was hoping they would bring it back and do quick troubleshoot with a meter , this however did not happen, Couple of members gave some good points on troubleshooting the sensors however , I would like Ford ( Dealership) to handle it for now.

Thanks again.

Interesting.

yup, just wondering if any 2025s' have experienced this , will hold off for a few weeks than possibly contact another or same dealership.

What exactly is it that you're concerned about? The 86 degrees being constant or the variance of operating temperatures?

the 86 degrees being constant , just seems "out of kilter" for me , when its 27 degrees outside in the morning and the truck coolant gauge says 86 degrees , I would think the coolant temp would somewhat reference the ambient temperature.

Just me I guess.

Can confirm my 2023 with temps enabled on the gauges read below 86. So it doesn’t seem like that is a programmed floor. But your operating readings mirror mine so maybe yours is calibrated differently.

Big Tremor Engery,
Thats what I was thinking , its funny though , after I start up , in less than 30 seconds the temp has gone up past 86 going into the 90s , just not use to seeing this.

I have a brand new 2025/402a/3.5L with only 350 miles on it. My coolant temp also reads 86 degrees at start up (oil and transmission temp read ambient air temp which is what I would expect). Coolant temp. quickly reads normal within a few minutes after start up and the gauge seems to work perfectly other than the temp at startup so I really don't give a hoot.

ok, good to know , Thank you, I'm possibly a little older and yeah I kind of "give a hoot."

Re-reading I should clarify my post. My temps are forscan enabled my on 23, they are not enabled as stock. It sounds like the 25s then may include that as stock in which case it may be a different programming or even sensor than mine after all. They may have set a read or display minimum because neither will ever read anywhere near 86 or below when warmed up, with the oil getting to temp in just a couple minutes of driving. Since the steady state temps once warmed up sound accurate I think that is likely the case, and/or maybe the sensors don’t read reliably below 30C/86F so they set that as the floor. I see the purpose of the gauges as knowing when the truck is up to temp, and then knowing if it’s going higher when operating. Knowing the exact oil temperature at time of startup doesn’t seem like a useful data point as if it’s been sitting a while it’ll match ambient, and if it hasn’t been sitting a while it’ll probably be above 30/86.

So mine will flash (very briefly) 0°degrees then goes to 86° and starts climbing as it warms. 2024 5.0

mine does the same here in Canada on a 24, 5.0L. it reads 30C / 86F even though its -25C / -13F outside

thanks all for answering in, after reading, sounds like thats the way this version of the F150 is set up , just for the heck of it , had experienced a 2025 Explorer ST , sorry, Nope could not even figure that SUV out :unsure: control wise that is, a lot of screen button pushing.

my question has been answered(y)

thanks again
