Background: ordered a 402a AMB mid Feb. it finally arrived at the dealer 2 weeks ago according to the tracker and Ford emails, at which point Asked my sales rep (fleet sales rep as I do a lot of fleet business with this dealership so she put the retail order in for me) when I should come over to finalize paper work. Because I do a lot of fleet business with them they didn’t make me put down a deposit, but truck was ordered under my name, email address and DL. Checked the tracker last week and site just said “your vehicle has been delivered. If you have further questions consult your owners manual.” Red flags raised, so emailed the sales rep and GM to ask if the truck was ready and when I should come get it. Was told it was in PDI and they would let me know when it was ready, but in the meantime to get them info on my trade. Get a call today from the GM telling me they screwed up and sold it to someone else last week. I’m obviously pissed that a truck I have been waiting 9 months for got sold to someone else, so I ask how that can happen since I didn’t sign a release. They state that another customer with same first initial and same last name ordered 4 trucks that also just came in and he backed out and signed a release for them, so somehow in their system a sales rep looking up trucks on lot sees mine and thinks it has been released and sells it. I ask how that happens in Smart Vincent without verifying a VIN and am told that they screwed up and are coming up with options to make it right. Unfortunately with the issues we have been having this year with fleet orders and their terrible communication I can’t say I am surprised (we were already talking with other dealers for our future fleet needs), but I am pissed.

Here are my options:
A. They find a similar ‘22 AMB that another dealer is willing to trade them for - best case scenario but I think unlikely.
B. They have an Atlas blue tremor with more options than I ordered (really just blue cruise that I don’t care about) that they will sell me at the same price (they eat the $4k in price increases, $2,500 PCO I had, and the cost of the blue cruise upgrade. - No offense to you Atlas blue owners, but it would be my 5th choice in colors.
C. They have a ‘23 Avalanche on order, same price matching. I obviously will lose the heated steering wheel which I use all the time in winter on my current truck. Haven’t seen that color in person so not sure. Is it closer to Lead Foot Gray or Space White? Online pics are hard to tell.
D. I do what I should have done in the first place and order a ‘23 AMB from Granger, but I wait 6 more months and pay $5k more than I should have. Or has anyone seen Azure Gray Metallic in person?

Most, not all. Dealerships are soo Shady and dishonest. Since they do have a Tremor(atlas) see if they can find one within 200-300 miles and dealer trade for you. Last month, I picked up my 22Tremor they had on their lot. They delivered it to my door( no extra cost ) Avalahche is light, like a dirty white ( but nicer ) more inline with Cactus grey on the light side. They had made a Raptor that color if you google it.

Sorry to hear, that's brutal. I would go with option B.

Go for B and have it wrapped!

Ford removed the heated steering wheel from my order and the dealer couldn't put it back, I'd make them find you another one.

Problem with option B is the cost to wrap an entire vehicle (around $10k last I heard). Apparently they had already reached out to over a dozen dealerships that showed an AMB 402a to ask about a trade and no deal. This would be the ideal scenario for the current situation, but at this rate it seems highly unlikely.

As I have been thinking more I may go with C and have a conversation about what else gets thrown in to make up for the lack of the heated steering wheel. I loved Space White and wished it was a Tremor option.

I really don’t think this was 100% deliberate/shady, but do feel that their internal policies are severely lacking. I told them that sales rep had better have sold it for well over MSRP to make up for what they are going to be out to rectify this. Told them I will come talk to them in person at the end of the week when I have time and my emotions have settled.

I'd go with C. HOWEVER, they would be giving me an extended warranty for free for the trouble.

I like the Avalanche and I woulda taken that color if available in 22. Plus I live in the desert and get free "heated steering wheel" most of the year. hahahaha (so take that for what it's worth)

I am in the midwest and grabbed a 22, The heated mirrors and steering wheel are a nice touch! Found out tonight, first time driving in the dark. Adaptive lights are cool too ( turning and auto brite ) Never had that before.

I grabbed my 22’ 402a off the lot a couple weeks ago and joined this platform a fews days after. Im shocked to see that there are orders folks have placed and are still waiting on when my truck is identical to some of those being described on this site. There were 4 total tremors at my dealer for sale, 2 sold that day and all were gone within a week when I returned to have bed lining and clear bra installed. I love my truck, happy i went with the f150 instead of the $100k f250 tremor platinum. The 3.5 ecoboost is a fun engine and WOW, the torque is amazing. I dont tow a ton or haul much more than a snowmobile in the bed.. the 3.5 ecoboost is that sweet spot. I have owned 6.4 hemi powerwagon and 6.7 cummins recently. This truck seems to be a perfect fit after having the HD experience and wanting to be able to get on some funner trails while having a truck that can work

That plan is already in motion. Truck should arrive early Jan, and I have all the parts for the steering wheel swap

I live in the PNW and I can say the heated steering wheel and heated mirrors were much appreciated in this recent polar ice storm.

Yes the heated steering wheel is a luxury but the heated mirrors are a must have requirement on any future vehicle for me full stop.

Heated wheel is nice in the mornings with remote start, I won't purchase another vehicle without it.
Especially a $70k plus vehicle…. But I do live in New England. If I was still in AZ or TX I probably wouldn’t even notice it!

Still some cold mornings in TX and AZ. I'm in NC and we have chilly mornings, granted not like we did in CO but cold enough to enjoy the heated features.

I’d take the best deal and add heated steering if it’s deleted. I’d ask them about selling you a Raptor at a discounted price.

After all of this I will be picking up the truck tomorrow, and then getting around to installing my pile of parts I have accumulated
