Hey All, new to the forum and new to F150 Tremor life.

Love the truck so far and have build out a nice off grid over landing setup. I’m pulling a 28 ft airstream. Payload is close to maxed out when airstream is on. Out west currently on a 2.5 month trip.

I built the truck specifically to be able to conquer most over landing and also be able to tow the airstream as well. I wanted to be more nimble than a super duty. So far no real problems, knock on wood.

The truck has had quite a bit of work done to it pre trip and then shipped to Montana where we started. On the way to the first few stops I’ve received some interesting notifications accompanied by the little engine indicator on the top left of the dash. It doesn’t say service or anything and I know this indicator can mean many things from not so urgent to extremely urgent. My FordPass app has given me more details.

At the time my emissions control sensor was bugging out and also the active grille isn’t always communicating properly. Neither too worrisome although the active grille could help fuel economy if working properly. Both were cleared by my ford dealership to be a non issue.

Yesterday traveling from Glacier to Yellowstone, 3:30 drive - 180 miles. Lots of flat, down hill for 20 miles at the end. Everything felt fine. At the end on the down hill portion almost all the way to destination I get more notifications. These seem a little more profound.

“The engine warning system has detected the engine has reached an ‘over temperature’ condition.”

Also

“The gearshift control module exhibits a configuration fault due to an incorrect installation or to the last update and requires service for proper operation.”

Like I mentioned, the performence and feel of the vehicle hasn’t changed a bit. The coolant level is perfect under the hood. Oil level as well. In the dash, there are no concerns either. Coolant and transmission indicators are at their normal levels and oil pressure stays within its safe range.

We are highish elevation. 6000 ft. The trailer is 7600 lbs loaded with 650 lb tongue weight. Equipped with Airbags and utilizing a WDH as well. Truck is getting average of 8.5 mpg towing and seems to be doing well outside of these warnings.

Thoughts? Are these more sensor issue do you think? Is this something that I should get looked at immediately? Next stop is Jackson and there is a cord dealership there…but will I make it lol?

Seems like you should have no problem towing that load at that elevation. What do you mean when you say, "truck has had quite a bit of work done to it"?

Engine braking, shutters for intercooler or radiator malfunctioning or blocked/inadequate air flow caused by the bumper is what I would start with.

Bumper with lights inside are the only thing on the front side. The first two warnings I know have something to do with the bumper. I also have air compressor setup, fridge, house battery and management system with solar. Rack with rooftop tent as well as awning and 11 gal water compartment.

I was wondering about that. So I’m on cruise control going down this massive downhill section and it is under engine brake often. Could that create an over temperature issue?

The bumper is super minimal to be honest. During the install I remember there was an issue and the right side of the active grille had to be removed. The other half is there still and I have verified it does open and shut. So I dunno.

Would a maxed out payload create strain on the engine that could create this issue?

We pulled over quickly and inspected the coolant. It was perfect. I also noticed that the compartment itself did. It seem extra hot nor did I hear fans going crazy either…

I mean maxing out anything has consequences but it's within spec so you're really not maxing it out, just maximizing the spec you purchased.

My only remaining thought is the intercooler louvers behind the bumper are hosed or its simply not getting enough air.

That's a lot of electrical stuff, may have messed up some sensors during install? Since you said your temps/pressures were normal but alarming?
