I haven’t seen it come up yet and was wondering if anyone did and if so, how many miles/years?

I’ve got one on my current truck and it has paid for it self over 170k miles.
I put about 30k miles a year on a vehicle and am considering on for the new truck.

Good idea or waste of money?

Go for it! It's a new model year so this is the best reason to get one if any. Also, make sure to get it from Flood Ford or Zeigler Ford. They have the best prices, but Zeigler with a coupon code is usually a bit cheaper I think. Try: PAYINFULL

Not sure when is the best time to get it. I went ahead and bought mine just because prices are most likely to go up if you wait till your factory warranty ends -- just a guess.

Depends on how much you are paying for it and how much weight you put into "piece of mind". Also, from my understanding, if you bought your vehicle w/X-Plan or similar pricing then your dealer should be also selling you any ESPs, etc. at a pre-determined Plan pricing.

Are you saying if you have X plan then you get a cheaper extended warranty?

Well crap!!!! My apologies... I had some back and forth regarding this w/another forum member when I started my research several months ago and was told X-Plan member purchases also receive "X-Plan" pricing on ESPs and such. I did not research any further into it, because I personally do not purchase them and have no intention of buying one when I take deliver of my Tremor.

Anyhow, I thought I had better do a little research prior to digging myself a deeper hole in response to MOHunter. So, I just looked through the Ford Partner "how it works and rules document for plan members", and it clearly states the following:

18. Are any other items covered through the Plan?
No. Dealer installed options, conversion packages, extended warranties, accessories, etc., are not covered by the Plan and must be agreed upon between you and the dealer.

So, again my apologies to the 'OP', ChsTremor, for passing along inaccurate information.

No worries. Thanks for clearing it up.

I generally don’t by extended warranties on anything. Did for a TV once and it wasn’t worth anything. The tv went out and they wouldn’t repair it.
The only thing since then that I’ve bought a warranty on is my current truck and as stated above, it has paid for itself so far. Probably not worth it for most people and like you said, it depends on price. I got a pretty good deal on mine.

Thanks for checking in to it. I was pretty curious once you said that. I didn’t buy it on my 15, but I was going to put a little more consideration into it if I could’ve received a better deal on one with X plan.

For comparison, I paid $1185 for 8 year 60K with LED and no deductible through Zeiglar Ford. It's basically 1.5-2% of the total purchase cost which I think is a deal for my driving habits. 70K on average is a lot to spend and probably would not have done it for a car under 40K. Ugh, can't believe how much new car prices have gone up in the last 10 years

For many of the reasons highlighted (New Trim) and all of the technologies that are in trucks nowadays, I purchased the Extended warranty for 6 years/100K miles. I have had them in past Ford F150's and in my experience it has been a 50/50 experience...I have gone through the warranty period twice without ever using it and have taken full advantage in another two vehicles....

How much time after you buy your truck do you have to buy an extended warranty with out a larger cost for it? My guess is buy it within the first year to avoid that.

Are online extend warranty prices from Ziegler, etc better than the dealer offerings?

Lowest price for me was well over 2K at dealer for same plan, so yea, significant savings.

When you try the online quote, try adjusting the mileage and time. It will be on today's pricing, but it will give you an idea if there is an effect if you wait till your factory warranty ends.

Got it thanks! BTW what plan did you go with? Premium Care 1000+ components, or what package of you used Ziegler.

Premium Care and lighting package to cover LEDs. If one of them goes out in 8years, the whole thing just paid for itself 😁

Ok, nice makes sense. Looks like the premium care covers the LED's. Or what other lighting package are you referring?

There was a lighting package that was broken out on their website, so I'm not sure now...lol. On Flood Ford it's $35

I purchased a 7/100k bumper to bumper. Non-wear and tear for 2500

For me, I'll be buying it. Present value of $2000 compared to future value being close to $3200 over 7 or 8 years is likely to be a wash with reasonable hedging. Unlike my last rig, I plan on putting all the miles on it.

With all newer vehicles I would have an extended warranty. The cheapest prices you will find will be from Flood or Zeiglar Ford. The online consensus is that they have never been beat. You can buy online and it shows up in your FordPass app within a couple days. Flood will let you buy one up to 40k miles without an inspection, but gives you a $100 bonus if you buy while still covered under factory warranty. I'm not sure of Zeiglar's process, but I've seen guys who bought used and paid for the inspections and were able to get vehicles with higher mileage covered. Lastly the price changes a lot depending if you want deductibles and how long you want the coverage. Figure out your average yearly mileage and how long you plan on keeping your truck. Don't worry if you change your plan mid-stream, you can always cash in the prorated remainder or transfer it as an upsell in a private transaction. I highly recommend the light bulb coverage and things get expensive very quickly if one of the headlights go bad. I also recommend the rental car coverage if your dealership doesn't have a good fleet of loaners.

Just my $.02 and sorry if I repeated info from above, I was too lazy to read the whole thread. ;)

The dealer quoted me 3500 for a six year 85k esp when I bought my tremor this week. I’m glad I didn’t because I looked at Ziegler and it was 1100 on the quick quote.

I bought one on my 2013 F150 and never used it. I don't think I would buy it again
