Saw this wire today that connects directly to the battery and has an inline 15 amp fuse. Looks like it would be something that was done aftermarket but it came like this from Ford. Does everyone have this? or maybe just 402As? Anyone know who it goes to? Just wondering.

That doesn't look like it's from the factory
I agree, but it did. Unless Granger added something to it when they got it, but no clue what that would be. That's why I'm asking if anybody else has this.

Because you sound like you’re saying it’s a company truck, they definitely could’ve added on. Our company uses telematics to track everything possible done in the vehicles. Maybe something along those lines?

No, it's not a company truck. I ordered it from Granger, it arrived at their dealership and was loaded on a trailer and shipped to me.

Definitely doesn't look factory. I have only seen that type of insulation/shielding on aftermarket light bar harnesses. Can you follow the power wire to see where it goes?

Mystery solved.....I crawled underneath and traced the wire. It went from the passenger side to about midway back then across to the driver side and to the rear of the truck. It was at that time that it hit me. I had the Pace Edwards Bedlocker Tonneau cover installed which is electric....DUHHHH

Sorry for wasting everyone's time.........I will say it's an awesome cover if anyone is in the market.

And as a side note I came across this while extending my AUX switch cables. What a pain in the ass. Really Ford? I had to take out the battery and tray just to barely touch the wires. Wound up splicing and adding extensions to all 12 wires, aux and pass throughs.....they really could have made the wires just a little longer. The good news was after completely removing the battery, once I replaced it all of my settings, radio stations, seat and steering wheel positions, etc. were still there....that was a pleasant surprise.

I’m not looking forward to accessing the aux switch wires. What connector and wire did you use to extend them all?

The leads are 1.00mm which translates to roughly 17 gauge. I used 16 gauge primary wire and heat shrink butt splices to extend them. I used red wire to extend the powered switch leads and white wire for the pass through leads. I then labeled each lead with the aux switch number and amperage. Today I'm going to crimp Deutsch connectors to each lead, that way it will be an easy plug in for any accessories and easy to change them out or switch them around in the future. I'll clean it up with braided sleeves/looms on each cable. The biggest pain will be making the ground for each connection. Thought about adding a grounding bar but there's almost no space to do so. I'll probably try twisting all six together and making one cable that I can find a nut to ground to.

This answers my question about if they are pre-wired with ground or a grounding point for the aux wires. TY!
