Saw this on the GEn14 forums, as well as a few other places. One person was kind enough to include a screen shot of an email from his dealer. The RUMOR is that Ford will not be taking orders for 22 f150's starting in the next week or so. Has anyone heard anything about this? IF it is true, what are your thoughts?

Only saw it on the Gen14 forums. I was chatting to a friend a few weeks ago about my truck order, and they said they were waiting on the order banks to re-open to order a Lightning, which was supposed to happen sometime in May. (I mentioned the shit show that is getting a truck right now). So that could track... They're prioritizing the Lightning for the remainder of the year.

Yeah, the email screenshot almost looked like a marketing ploy. But a few others on that thread claimed to have heard the same thing. I personally think it's the right move. Get caught up before they take any more orders.

I’m pretty sure they have been closed for Super Duty’s for a while now, so as Joe Rogan says, it’s entirely possible.

Pretty sure that SuperDutys have been closed for a while, and that F150s will close this week. Ford closed all Mach E orders a few weeks back. Honestly, I think Ford should have closed F150s orders already as it seems it will be impossible to actually produce all of the '22 orders they have already taken. Not sure mine will actually get built. Will have to see if they roll 22's into 23's like they did last year, as rumors are they wont, but I dont see how they cant.

Completely agree with you, they should have closed the banks as soon as they realized they'd have to start removing options.

Well that's not going to keep that stock price high

Well....we all know what Ford should do, and what they actually do are very often 2 different things at this point haha.

I'm a sales manager and I've worked in retail auto my entire life (not for ford) and this is an industry wide issue. I can tell you from a retailer standpoint it's not fun trying to sell less equipped cars for more money but that's the market we're in unfortunately. I have buddies at GM dealers who are selling $85k trucks with no heated seats, the button is there but they won't be able to actually get the seats to heat until parts are available at later date. We are delivering cars to customers with one key and a promise from the factory for a second key later. We just got word that about 60% of our coming SUV's will not have power liftgates anymore, tow package deletes, radar system deletes etc. The mfg's really have no option other than to continue building cars with fewer options. As far as Ford accepting orders, I do think the company needs to do a better job in terms of not taking order they can't fulfill in the time they let customers believe they can.

I will say this, my new tremor 402a not having Auto START/STOP is the best thing ever so it's not all bad news!

I cant imagine being a dealer right now. I'm pretty close with a sales guy at a local Ford, he said trying to explain to customers why they're spending more money for a vehicle with fewer options is starting to make his hair fall out.

At some point consumers will reaching their tipping point when it comes to paying more to get less. IMO that point is coming this year when you combine price increases, deleted features and rising interest rates.

Mfgs absolutely have a choice when it comes to building vehicles with less features. They could build less vehicles but keep all the features. From a business standpoint I get it, but from a consumer standpoint I hate it, same as how I feel about everything becoming subscription based. I loathe the day where all vehicles will require a subscription to actually use the features on it - one of the reasons I did not order a truck with Blue Cruise. Mentally I cannot accept having to pay for a subscription in order to use something on my own vehicle that I already paid for to a certain extent.

I was going to bypass that anyways with a jumper wire on the back of the switch because I hate that "feature" so bad, so when I ordered and I could get $50 off for eliminating it that was a no brainer.

Yeah but it's still all about supply and demand, just like the housing market. My house has gone up $400k since I bought 18 months ago. And we may see that slow but I don't think we will see a reversal in housing anytime soon because we are underbuilt here in the US. I expect vehicle market to not get much better any time soon either for the same reason, just going to take a while for supply to catch up to demand.

This may be cynical....but I wonder how much of this is so Ford can keep their "Best Selling Truck in America" streak going....

Also, I've now seen several places that claim the 13th is the last day for ordering an F150 for 2022.

The reason they are the selling truck (and vehicle) in America is partly due to their fleet sales. XL's make up a large part of trucks sold, but obviously under represented on the forums. But pull some Ass Massagers out of a King Ranch and the Cowboy's are going to be all up in arms, still, small numbers by volume I expect.

So they've got two months to unveil the 2023 changes. Assuming their marketing team is working on figuring out how to sell less features at higher costs and make it seem like it's worth the value.

My price is locked in for 2022 and I believe my dealer said if it gets converted to a 2023, I'm protected at no more than a 50% increase.

Didn't require a deposit so it's not a huge deal if I have to bail out completely.

Wonder if they'll introduce any wild new colors for 2023...
