Now two days into ownership, and with about 50mi under belt, my impressions are this:
The F150 Tremor is a gorgeous truck... There's no way I can walk into the garage or driveway and see that thing parked there without a childish grin on my face. For the most part, Ford absolutely nailed it on design and aesthetics. Having seen only three so far in real life, prior to delivery, and those on the road in passing, all I can say is pictures do not do it justice.. Thing is sexy.
For those awaiting AMB trucks - the color is incredible. Again, pics and youtube videos don't do it justice. I have to say, I like the color best in the shade so far. It's nice in sunlight too, with the flecks of blue, green, purple, and red popping, but on a sunny day, with the truck in the shade, the color is hard to describe. Like taking navy blue paint and turning it liquid. Every curve is accented, and the AMB looks fantastic with the orange accents. Note, every finger print and speck of dust will show. I was running a saw about 15ft away today, and had to go out with a blower afterwards and take the saw dust off of it. The truck will need to receive regular baths, to keep it show worthy, but for those with kids.. Every finger print shows.
Far as ride goes (as others have noted), you definitely get that king of the road feel. Pulling up to lights with other F150's, you look down (your nose) a bit
. I've had two people in parking lots tell me what a nice looking truck it is, and have seen countless people staring my way in traffic. It floats pretty well on the suspension and is pretty comfortable to drive.
The transmission, so far, seems a bit clunky honestly. You can definitely feel it shift, and I've been babying it, per the 1000mi break-in period. Hoping that improves.
As of parking it this eve, considering the above, I'm averaging 12.4 mpg. Also hoping that improves at the 1000mi calibration, which others seem to note.
The base upholstery is okay (400A). It's comfortable enough, and hoping it stands the test of time. Steering wheel, door handles, plasticky door panels, etc, are okay, not amazing. The seat belt feels really cheap, btw. Probably not a Tremor thing, or even a Ford thing, but for shaving those pennies on profit margin, they give it a really cheap feel, compared to say, cars in the 90's.
Per above, with 400A base, I can't comment much on options. I opted to remove the spray-in bed liner from order, as it's caused so many delays for people, but have lined that up with the local Line-X shop, plus a BAKFlip MX4 tonneau, bedrug, and Husky mats. Likely Husky wheel well liners shortly. And will probably light up the side vents at some point, maybe some grill lights.
Oh! My one aesthetic gripe so far is the awful rake on this thing. It's pretty dramatic. I'm going to start by dropping the rear an inch (2" block -> 1" block) and see how that looks. If further needed, will lift the front, but will be utilizing payload capacity for suburban/yard/hardware store needs, and possibly a 15-20ft hard-sided camper in the future. So, I'm fine with some offset, but it's pretty bad, as is. Would drive me crazy to leave it so nose-down..
Tremor rims are great. I personally like them. The stock Grabbers look good too. If I end up lifting the front, may possibly go a bit bigger when the time comes, but wheels look nice. As do step-bars.
I did crawl underneath, and though I didn't find the noise dampener recalled, by the driveshaft (Ford removed it?), I did see one of the other dampeners just kindof hanging down loosely. Will secure that tomorrow. No rust nightmares that others have noted on forums. All looks pretty good (will take suggestions on aftermarket muffler options, sounds pretty good for V6 on start-up, but not opposed to low and modest rumble if others have achieved).
All in all, I give this thing a 9.5/10. Truck is just absolutely gorgeous, and nice to drive. Over the past six months, I've considered canceling, as the wait has been tough, but glad I stuck with it.
Cheers from East Tennessee
