I was going through the vehicle settings over the weekend and when I performed a Power Port test and it came back with a Ground Fault.
I had a Bed Liner sprayed in last week, so I stopped by there first to have them take a look at it as they had pulled all of the panels out to apply the bed liner and everything was in order as far as electrical connections are concerned, so I then went to the dealer to schedule service, which will be on Wednesday morning.
I was worried that due to the bed liner application that the Ford Dealer would come back with "it wasn't covered by Warranty due to the panels pulled for the bed liner application".

So first explain to me exactly what you mean by “panels pulled” when applying bedliner. Do you mean the ProPower outlet? I don’t see how Ford would know you removed that, it’s only held in with four screws.

Perhaps he was talking about the way Ford would know that the panel was removed for the spray in bed liner is because said liner from the factory has the Ford oval stamped into the front of the bed not to mention that it’s a totally different process from the factory versus the aftermarket.

Exactly- They would know that the panel was pulled (wiring not detached) due to the truck didn't leave the dealership with sprayed in Bed Liner when I bought it.

Well first thing don't say anything about your spray in liner !! My truck came with it and don't say a thing on the window sticker about liner !! It was New on the Lot !! Buy the way how did you check it? I need to check mine ?

So what’s your point. You are assuming they will deny warranty claim over a bed liner? You are spinning your wheels for no reason

What's the difference (in the process) between factory and aftermarket?
Ford just ships the trucks down the street to a company called GFX and they spray the liner before final delivery. (and actually they do a so-so job)

I'd also like to know please
Go to "Features" on the center display and you'll see the Power Point Icon. Go there and there is a "Test" Button.

Mine tripped when I tested too.
I assumed it is sending a "test short" to be sure the gfi is working and cutting off the power if there is a fault.

You said it right there. My last pickup was a 2005 Ranger. Had the bed liner sprayed in right after I bought it new. They applied the bed liner over everything, including the bed bolts.
About a year after I bought it, a tree in my yard fell on it, so it went into the body shop where they had to repair the truck's cab roof and driver's side. In order to repair the cab, they had to cut out the bed bolts from the bed liner to move the bed back & it never look right after that.
This time, I wanted to make sure that the bed bolts and any fittings in the bed were removed during the application of the bed liner.
I understand that it is iffy whether or not the bed bolts are removed when the bed liner is sprayed from the factory (or the vendor), and I've seen Youtube videos where they've had to cut out any hold down brackets from the bed liner to install accessories in the bed.

Yea on my 2025 they sprayed all my bolts, and just taped around the tie-downs & power plug. The even sprayed over the plugs in the front wall, which I had to cut loose to install my bed cover drains. Factory isn't better, it's just easier to order it done.

Unless something has changed from Ford, the process of sanding down the bed / destroying the clear coat isn’t a process that Ford uses to apply said spray in liner.

Got the truck back after 2 days @ the dealership. Had to replace the outlet and of course had to wait for parts as they were not in stock.
Covered under warranty & everything is good now.

Always a good feeling when the greasy service rep gives you a call and says they found what's wrong and parts are on the way.

I was without my truck for 3 months when I got it because of an incompetent technician. Long story, some of you [readers] here might remember.

One thing of note- I was getting messages on my Ford App while they were working on that they were getting the same ground fault that I was.
The final message was that the truck needed to be taken in for service. Well the truck was at service….
On an unrelated issue I asked the service writer where the fog light switch was, because I couldn’t find it. The owners manual says “around the light switch area”. Turns out the fog lights on/off switch is in the middle of the light switch knob. I haven’t seen that written anywhere. From the service writer’s reaction I’m not the first one to ask the same question.

I’ve had that same error for a long time. Just never want to hand my truck over for days.

When I had my bedliner sprayed in they forgot to plug the propower back in underneath.

The same thing happened to me 2 days after I got my Tremor and right after my spray in bedliner back in 2021. I took it back to the shop that did the bedliner and they said we didn’t touch anything except for the receptacle. And then took it out to the Ford dealership. They told me it wasn’t even hooked up from the factory and had to wire the whole system.
