Good afternoon on this Good Friday. I’m in the Nashville, TN area. I’ve been calling local dealers trying to find one nearby that will match Granger Ford’s offer. I was physically laughed out of one dealer I visited in person. The others have politely decline saying that all theirs are marked up over MSRP even on ordered units. Guess I’ll take my money to Iowa. My biggest question is timing. I’m in no hurry. I need the new truck this time next year. I’m getting all sorts of different information on how long it takes. Anywhere from 3 months to 12. I’ve requested a call from Granger to discuss but in the meantime, I thought I would get opinions from the forum. If you were trying to time it for next April, when would you order? I don’t want to fully insure two trucks for a year when I don’t need to.

I suspect Granger will give you a rough estimate, but they can't control the various constraints Ford runs into. I'd estimate 5-6 months.

Couple options:
Order now without really caring when it arrives and sell or trade in your current truck when it does come in.
If a next April delivery is more important, wait till this fall and maybe order a '23 MY.

Bottom line, it's not realistic to determine a delivery date with any certainty on any make or model you order.

Last post from zach@granger said they estimate if you were to order a Tremor from them today (or last week) to not expect it until at least October. And that's just their best guess but you can see the post here.

I'll second this. Ordering is a complete crapshoot right now. A lot of people ordered 5 to 6 months ago and have nothing, and they might be waiting longer. But there are also people who ordered in January that have taken delivery already. Doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason. If you're trying to time things right you either have to be lucky with your order or lucky and find what you want, when you want, for a price you're ok with.

I would work with a dealer, give them a deposit and tell them you want to be first in their order banks for the 2023 model.

Prices are going UP every month. Ford has increased the price on the F150 3 times this year already (over $3,000 increase). If you wait 6 months to order it could easily go up another $3,000-$5,000. Imop if you want the truck put your order in now to lock in the price, and just trade out your current truck when it gets here in 6 months.

I won't have anything to sell or trade. I'm keeping my current truck to give to my then 16 year old.

I'm in the same boat, i put my order in beg of Feb and giving my current car to a family member. If you like the truck i'd put in an order though, no sense paying more if you are ready to buy in 6 ish months. Also, there is talk that new orders will be moved to 2023 any day now due to chip shortage so you might end up not getting it until 2023 anyway.

That makes sense. Hopefully they don't drop more tech and at the same time raise the price like they did for the 22. Would be nice to know what color options the 23 will have too since they changed for 22.

COVID just really screwed up the world! I miss the days when you could go put hands on a vehicle and test drive them before buying. At least you can sell easily if you don't end up liking it.

I found a 402a tremor on the lot and took a test drive, it was fully optioned + $5k market adjustment (so over $77k). I didn't buy from them, but it was worth the test drive. I loved the truck immediately. I'd suggest you look for a local place to test drive one, then order one using Xplan or through Granger.

Good evening. You might give Woody Anderson Ford, in Huntsville,AL a try. They just advertised they’re taking orders on a new F150 at 5% below MSRP. Since time is. Or a factor for you, that might work and it’s close by for pickup.

I live in Goodlettsville and the best shot of a dealership is in Springfield. Miracle may actually negotiate since they lost $350k of my business, this year. And I made sure they were aware of it.

*edited* Nashville dealerships can pound sand. Order from Granger and plan a trip of it.
*removed personal gripe session ;)

Order now to lock in price. I have a Bronco 10/2020 order that may come in 2025 and a tremor order from 03/22 that hopefully happen this year. Allocation, constraints and the planning faeries make proper forecasting for any specific date impossible.

2025?! Dang! I heard they stopped taking orders for them recently.

I'm in Huntsville often. I was down in Birmingham last week. I hit every Ford dealer along 65 between Nashville and Birmingham just wanting to look at trucks and most of them had zero on the lot. I thought about Woody Anderson but didn't make it that far off the path. Thanks for the info.

Head East, young man..... for the best dealership in Tennessee 😁, Bristol to be exact. They consistently get top ratings and have always been honest about everything. Friendship Ford. Read the reviews online and see for yourself. No I do not work there but have dealt with them for several years and in comparison to other dealers in the area and elsewhere you can't beat them. Now I'm not saying they will beat Granger's pricing but for customer service and vehicle service they are the best I have dealt with.

I fully expect this to happen again for '23s. Why wouldn't they? Ford is currently saving about $0.10 per truck by switching back to incandescent bulbs from LED for the license plate lights, and that has nothing to do with "chip shortages" but rather everything to do with profit margins. I also expect to see more items that are currently part of the 401 or 402 packages become their own stand alone packages so they can charge more for that add on, just like they did with the bed lighting.

how do you like the Atlas Blue?

Love it. Gets lots of compliments, especially with the tremor orange. Only complaint is it shows water spits pretty well, so I've become much better about keeping it clean
