Hope all are well during this time, finally got power and Internet back, spent 6 hours yesterday clearing trees from my driveway, still have lots of other trees to cut up out of the yard and about 3 bundles of shingles to replace. I hope everyone made it through safe.

My daughter goes to school in Boone and they got hit pretty hard. Tree destroyed her neighbors apartment and the one to her left was looted last night. She just came home for the week till everything gets sorted out and school goes back into session.

Yeah Boone and Ashville got hit hard as well, I'm about 45 minutes from both.

All clear here.

Despite a few downed trees and tons of rain, all turned out well here in my area of northeast Atlanta aka Dacula GA.
Anything with the fire or you out of that path?

Are you referring to the fire at the chemical plant in east Atlanta that’s been on the news?
If so, I’m quite far from that area.

Looks like I'll be deploying on a disaster response mission with Kentucky Homeland Heroes. Most of the response efforts are in Florida, which is reasonable, but we're probably heading to Tennessee or likely North Carolina. Glad I finally got the truck mostly done and ready to go (except for the temporary, hand-cut logos. I'm working on the door logos right now...)!

If anyone is from those states and you have information on what areas are hardest hit or are not receiving a lot of help, please let me know. I can't guarantee we'll be able to help, as we'll likely be directed by the local first responders/emergency management and/or the VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters) Coordinator but we should be heading down there Monday. We'd like to go sooner but can't.

Also, I hate to ask, but we'd always appreciate donations to the GoFundMe at https://www.gofundme.com/f/fueling-disaster-response-with-kentucky-homeland-heroes, which will help cover tools and equipment. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61559674576701. EIN: 99-1554946.
(I'm working on getting our Charity Navigator and GuideStar profiles set up in the little free time I have these days, and our website should be up soon!)

Pick between Unicoi, Carter, Washington or Greene county TN, those areas have communities that still haven't been gotten into, due to roads and bridges gone, last count I heard was approximately 173 people missing in those areas. No cell service because the towers were wiped out and most areas, don't have water or power!

Thanks, Faktor! If we go to TN, I'll push for those counties.

If you go into North Carolina it's gonna be a long drive to get there, Interstate 26 had 2 bridges was out in Unicoi county TN and interstate 40 washed off the side of the mountain between the TN line and Asheville. Most of the backroads from TN into Asheville area and Boone area, are destroyed as well, honestly it will take a year or more to get permanent fixes to get to these areas, I expect them to bring in some temporary bridges like the Mabey Johnson to get access to areas and to be able to have traffic through the I26 area. We lost 5 bridges in the area that are just gone, several other deemed unsafe and the few that survived are covered in debris.

On a side note if you do come to this area and see an iconic silver Tremor running around it's likely me

Wow…

Well, we won’t be able to fix everything but we’ll do everything we can while there. Groups like Team Rubicon will probably extend their mission longer than we’re able to.

We often focus on the first responders/military/vets so they can focus on taking care of their communities, but we may be doing a lot more route clearance, welfare checks and stuff like that this time.

I’ll keep an eye out for you!

Im glad everyone is doing well. I'm headed to East TN/SW NC, tonight. I was on a trip in Canada and ignorant off all of this unti 3 days ago. One of our guys got through to me by radio and filled me in. Been swapping over everything since I got home yesterday.
I'll try to update our location in case you hear of anyone in need.

Sounds good guys, I can feed any info I get if you need me to, unfortunately I'm sporadically around helping where and when I can, we are short at work so been working a lot and this made us even shorter.

Be forewarned lots of areas still have no water, power or cell service, Verizon is supposed to bring in some mobile towers to try and get service out, so the stores are selling out of ice and water in the area, from my understanding you have to travel 30-50 miles just to potentially find either, fema and the states have been doing water handouts to the locals affected by this disaster. To get an idea of the severity of it Google WJHL.com or WCYB.com those are the two local stations.

We bring our own supplies so we're fully self-sufficient.

Thank you so much for the info!

Feel free to PM or post in here if you guys have any questions I'll try to get answers for you as quick as I can.

I'll be honest , I went to help with Katrina, been to West Virginia during their floods ,did several hurricane and flood cleanups all over the state of Virginia, but this is by far the worst I have seen.

If your gonna be using saws bring a couple of extra chains. They are hard to come by down here right now, I had to travel for 30 minutes before I found one yesterday.
