I got frisky and decided to do the door weatherstripping mod. If you don’t know what that is, essentially you put rubber tubing into the door weatherstripping to tighten the seal to stop extra wind noise or in my case, the door would vibrate over rough roads and I could hear the weatherstripping rubbing together. So not a rattle per se, but just a slight noise most would not pay attention to. But I’m a perfectionist ocd freak so…

To get the latex tubing inside the weatherstripping you should use some type of lubricant. Well, I decided to grab my Ballistol from my gun cleaning kit. It worked great! Everything went smoothly and the mod fixed my issue.

However, if you know what Ballistol is, you know it smells like bigfoots ****! And I don’t know why I didn’t think of this but now my truck has gone from that lovely new car smell, to a combination of Limburger cheese, teenager feet, and a high calorie persons swamp arse, mixed with vomit. It’s not really overwhelming but it’s there and it’s definitely noticeable. And I don’t think it helps when the heat blows on it in the morning

Now I’m trying to figure out how to fix this problem I caused. New weatherstripping cost $130

I’m thinking I will likely need to get some Dawn soap and water to soak it in and redo everything using that.

I love the smell of Hoppe’s #9 in the morning. It might even clean off bigfoot’s **** smell, two birds one stone.
