Hello,

I am a new member posting for first time. I have read many of the posts here and they have have been very helpful. I am coming out of a Roush edition F250 with Carli suspension and have also owned Gen 1 & Gen 2 Raptors. Onto my question....

I am looking for feedback from those with first hand experience with the ICON suspension on the Tremor. How does it ride for daily use on the street and highway? Some report that it is stiff, bumpy and jarring. I get that it is off road suspension but fact remains these trucks get driven on the pavement more than anything. I have swapped suspensions several times on other trucks and have to say that unless we are talking hardcore off road use, value has usually not been there for time/money spent.

Also would like to know how it changed the ride height front and rear. I am looking to raise the front end but don't want to get rid of the front rake entirely. I might just throw spacers in (2") and some larger tires and be done with it but also want to consider ICON or other suspension kits before making a final decision.

Thanks!

I currently have the eibach coilivers and have the Icon 2.5s ordered. The eibachs were firmer but far from jarring or stiff. I expect the icons will shift that slightly more to the stiff side and am hoping it won't be uncomfortable. I'm still 6 weeks away from delivery

Coming from a Carli setup, I would guess a Fox or King build would be close to that same ride.

The Eibach coilovers eliminate all rake as I understand it, correct? Does King have a coilover that will fit the Tremor?

I think they are all reusing current parts stating limited results for the Tremor.
With the Icons, it appears the overall length of the coilover is the limiting factor.
I.e. they come shipped with 1.5" of thread showing for a 2" lift.
0-2.75" for the f150 4x4.
Subtract the extra 1" lift the tremor has and we're down to 0-1 75"
So you now have 1/2" of thread to play with until you reach their max 2" extension
That half inch can make up to roughly 3/4" lift but it will start to affect droop.
Icon recommends at least 2" of droop and I'm guessing the struts are simply not long enough to achieve that with more than a 1/4" of additional lift.

I'll be calling stage3 today to try to get some sort of droop numbers before I install the Icons.

Icon passenger side droop 27" (still on jack stands so this could change with control arm reset

I’m still waiting on all y’all with this mythic “spare time” to figure out the Goldilocks set up so I can ditch my puck lift! Thanks for the work and sharing results here👍🏻
Time is the problem. If I had a hood garage with a lift (and AC) it would be less of a problem.

If you had sliders it would be less of a problem just use 2 hi-lift jacks on each side and there's your lift 😁, you purchased in wrong order! Jking

I’ve got 4 that I used to level a deck a while back, this may just work!🤣

Settings from factory "2 inch lift"
39 7/8" ground to fender. 7/8" higher than stock
Current droop 27"
Current ride height 24 3/8"
All the way on soft, feels like an early 90s Cadillac
Next, setting visible threads from 1.5" to 1 3/4"
I think I'll shoot for 24 3/4" to start
That's about 40 1/4" ground to fender (1 1/4 lift)
With the extra 160 pounds, I expect to be 1-1 1/8 total lift. And 2 1/4" downward articulation from ride height.

27 1/8 droop both
1 3/4" threads on passenger
1 13/16" threads on driver
24 3/4" ride height
40 1/4" ground to fender
Settings currently on 3. Need bourbons and beers

And stuff

You can have both, bourbon and beer, Brew Brothers does a double bourbon barrel drippings beer that is around 14% the stuff is incredibly delicious. That is if you don't mind dark beer.

How would you compare this to the stock ride quality? How would you compare to your previous coilovers?

I wasn't a huge fan of the stock struts and thought the rears were garbage. For being straight from Ford, the struts were good.
The Eibachs are probably my favorite feel front (detuned to 3/8" lift) and back, on the road, empty. They were firm without being stiff and ate up road obstacles well but I can't use them reliably, off road.
The Icons (at 1+ inch lift) are noticeably stuffer than the Eibachs but I've also preloaded the spring more. The shocks on the Icons are going to be great for off road and the adjustability will definitely help with that added stiffness. It seems they're a bit overkill for what I want but they're the closest thing available for what I need.

I may end up swapping to a different Eibach spring. Their race springs are fantastic and a bit less rigid than the ones on the Icons.

For $2200+, I don't know that I can state the Icons are the way to go. If they offered a coilover that was 1.5" or 2" of lift but not height adjustable, I would be on it in a second.

I'll have all of my extra weight on the truck in a month and will know then if I made the right choice.

You can't go wrong with the Icons. Once you start abusing your truck they will shine. Keep in mind all high performance shocks have a short break in period.

For sure. I've had them on other trucks/vehicles and loved them. Unfortunately, the F150 segment isn't high on their list for options

A quick update. I have the Icons running on 3 and noticed a overall smoothness on the road above what the Eibachs offered. While they ate potholes more comfortably, the general vibration of the road is not noticeable, now.

I'll be adding 1/4" lift, this weekend and try to balance it out side to side then take thread measurements and report on ride quality.

40 1/4' passenger
40 3/8" driver with 3/4 tank and without 330 pounds of Himalayan hunk in the driver's seat.
Weighted the front down 140 pounds

All this under the max 2" thread showing. Drivers side took an extra full turn to level it with passenger side. Will measure later.

Quick shakeout ride was more firm from the additional spring compression. Not terrible and still smooths out the rough road.

I'll definitely need an alignment. I went from 17.7 mpg to 17.4 pretty quickly and have a slight tow hum.

I did hit my back yard (easy side) pretty agressively and it did great. I think the weight will help the motion a bit but overall, very good.

Once I get it aligned, I'll swap the big tires out and hit the tough side of the back yard.

I know this is an older thread, but was wondering if there was any updates on your experience with the Icon set up? Debating between this and the camburg. I feel like the kings may be overkill, but also on the aesthetic side, the icons will look better with the color of my Truck haha
