Here is a photo of my truck with the Amp Research power running boards.

That came out nice, does it lower as you walk up to the truck?

I also put them on mine, love them!

I did the install myself, install is pretty easy, just takes time. They bolt right up to the existing studs so that part is easy. Then you have to run the wire harness which is what takes the most time. One leg of the harness goes to the battery, then one leg of the harness goes to each step then a 4th goes in to the cab on the driver side and ties in there.

Installed myself, took about 4 hours.
It lowers about 6~7 inches . . . compared to the factory running boards.

which model number did y’all buy exactly? Want to be sure I order the right model. Is there a specific hardness needed as well? Looks like they range from $1449 to $1649.

Got the standard model on mine. They do not lower as you walk up.

How is everyone else liking the change from the factory to the AMPs?

The only think I dont like is the reduced protection from rocks. My tires stick out a little bit and I feel that they fling rocks up the side. If I had stock tires/wheels I would not worry so much.

I did the XL's. They have a nerf bar the steps come out of and give you a extra 3" of drop. Perfect for a lifted truck. The side bar does not offer any door ding or rock protection like the factory step did.

Main reason I haven't done it. Other than that i really like the idea of them.

I have beefy MT's and they love to sling rocks upward and the stock side steps offer the perfect level of protection against those rocks EVERY time in my experience.

Hey - I found a reason for you to get full PPF.

GO SPEND THAT $$$

Anyone that is looking into getting these. I may be looking at trading mine for the stock running boards plus some cash.

Literally everytime I drive I hear rocks hitting my running boards. No way I ever change just due to that. The idea is cool, just not appropriate for my use I guess. I also really like the anesthetic of the stock ones.

Any reason why?
My tire/wheel combo provides results in enough poke that I'm scared of the potential for rock chips and I think the stock boards would offer more protection. I have a gravel driveway, live off a dirt road and do a good bit of gravel driving.

Also, I feel like the stock boards set the truck apart from the other F150's (Platinum, Lariats, etc.).
