Installed Bilstein 6112's and CV Boots are rubbing

I just had Bilstein 6112's installed on my 2023 Tremor, set at position 6, and now the CV boots are rubbing. Has anyone else had this issue?

I talked to the guy at the shop about that and he didn’t think there was a left or right. Should the angle on top lean in or out?

There is a left and right and it’s very important for wheel caster to ensure left stays left and right stays right. The strut should be further towards the front of the truck where it mounts at the lower control arm than at the top in the strut bucket on the frame. The shock top hats being installed on the wrong sides would mean they’re 180° backwards and would be pushing the strut the opposite way which is what appears to be happening here. What did alignment say for caster angle?

No worries, I'm not sure if it'd even show up different but the geometry of the shock body itself would change the ride experience for sure I'd imagine. Yes you should be able to just swap them around but that's if in fact they are swapped. I don't know what else would cause this other than that issue but I don't have a way to guarantee it will be the cause.

I got mine already assembled and they weren’t side specific(that I remember maybe I got lucky). They are a quarter inch longer in the front (forward facing) vs the rear measured from the top hat to the lower mount. I don’t know how you could get them in backward. If it’s what @ApolloChurchill said, they would have to take the shocks back apart. Maybe the LCA is all the way to the rear? That should make the caster too small. Get that alignment sheet and see what it says.

Looking at my originals, I may just be overthinking that they are. I remember sometime somewhere it was mentioned they can't be swapped but I could be imagining it for something else. Looking at the top hats of mine it would appear that the kickout would be the same no matter which side it went on so I think something more may be going on here with OP than what I said. The top hats can only go in one way and don't seem to be left/right dependent but are directional so that front is always front.

So you can get the top hats on backward. I would check this first. Swapping sides on the shocks won’t fix it, they would need to be disassembled.

This is on my 2021 tremor. I bought them pre assembled from shock surplus in the 2.5” lift ring. The top down photo shows mine do not rub at all. Also added a front and rear view. I’ve offroaded mine as hard as these shocks can be pushed and had zero issues. I’m thinking yours are assembled incorrectly maybe? Hope this helps
