What's new

Interesting thread on intercooler.

I tried reading the article but then it loaded like every single thing they've posted and it just got lost on the page. However, looked like good info with what I was able to read. Anyone have any intercooler recommendations?

If you're considering going to an aftermarket intercooler, you may also want to think about relocating it to the front. This will allow for an an aftermarket bumper and winch setup.

Cobb intercoolers seem to be well regarded, but other brands are out there as well.

Yes Cobb is very well known and respected, I honestly would just be looking for a relocation kit myself just so later I could do a winch. This just popped into my news feed and I thought I would share because I myself wasn't aware this kit was available.

I would be surprised if Whipple didn't have or will soon come out with a 21+ relocation kit. As I understand t, the 21+ is different enough that I require different routing tubes. If Cobb get theirs out on, I'll go with them. Otherwise, I'm confident Whipple will have a relocation solution, this year.

I could be wrong....but add bumpers for the 21+ are already out and they have relocation kits for them. Unless this conversation is different and I'm out of the loop lol.

I would have to research that on the intercooler relocation, I know they have a relocation kit for the cruise and sensors.

I think this one is 21+, and they offer a relocation kit also.

Ofc now I have to install it because it's actually a good upgrade. I'm going to delete this damn forum from my bookmarks. Could've bought a raptor at this point.

But everyone has a raptor....They're basically not cool anymore. This is the way.

Heard fantastic stuff about these too and they're huge. But if you're going to do an intercooler.....you might as well do this too while you're there.

I like that one, and it's factory location. Only 100 more than the Cobb one.

How hard of an install is this to DIY?

Also... Damn you for adding the blow off valve.

Yes you could've bought a raptor, but then you'd still be doing all these upgrades or making it yours, so either way what you've spent you would still be spending.

Sorry not sorry lol. Its the unwritten rule of the forum, when the opportunity arises, make everyone spend more money.

But they're easy to install. It's a few bolts and some clamps. If you can get the front up high enough it'll be even easier. I know a couple people who have done it with a 2" level and said they had enough room.

Might give it a go on my 2.5" level. Figured it was just disconnect and reconnect hoses and screws.

The BOV seems easy also.

Oh yeah, the BOV literally just twists in and out. Same as the stock one. It just isn't feasible to do with the intercooler installed. So if you change it and want the BOV I would do it then. Otherwise you'll do it twice.

So the BOV is accessible better with the intercooler out you're saying? I'll order both and install together when I do this.

I have the CAI on the way, looking to do this, and the exhaust. No good catback systems available yet though

Absolutely. The pic below shows where it goes. This will be above the silicone couplers when installed and idt you would have room. It just twists 180° to take out/put in.

Here is the location on the Cobb intercooler. All the same though iirc since like 2015 or so.
