Yup. I wasn't impressed with the sound system that came with the 401a. I got to listen to the upgraded Bang Olufsen system and wasn't really impressed with that one either. Probably my fault cause I usually upgrade my systems with aftermarket. I ended up adding 6.5 Component 2-Way Speakers both front and rear. 5 channel amp and 2) 8" subs that fit perfect under the rear seat. Had some bugs with delayed turn on popping and buzzing but able to correct with the JL LoC-22 line converter which we didn't think we needed at first. It does cost quite a bit more but wouldn't have any other way. Love my music. I know how to install audio equipment but wasn't about to deal with it especially with keeping the original head unit. Had a friends shop install. Looking at your pics gave me flashbacks lol.Don’t do it… jeeeeeezzzzzus what a bunch of work for minimal gains in sound.
Damn…I guess I’m just gonna put a box under the seat. That sucks.Don’t do it… jeeeeeezzzzzus what a bunch of work for minimal gains in sound.
Wow, you have to be committed to do all that work. Sorry sounds not up to par.Don’t do it… jeeeeeezzzzzus what a bunch of work for minimal gains in sound.
factory amp is on the back wall. Should be just like the 13th gen and you can fit a shallow sub behind the back seats if you want to.I want that bass distinction which the B&O unleashed doesn’t provide.
What I would like to do is put a better quality amplifier, replacing stock amp ( I think it’s under back seats ) and replace current subs or sub with a larger better quality sub. I’d like this all be able to be done under the back seats but don’t think it will be that easy. If you have any pics please share. If not don’t sweat it. I’m most likely going to get an estimate to do just that.
Awesome, that’s very helpful, I’m gonna see if my amp will fit, thank you!factory amp is on the back wall. Should be just like the 13th gen and you can fit a shallow sub behind the back seats if you want to.

That is sick! I have the rear storage which is different, but that’s very cool. I gotta check out IG for ideas.

Attached photos. Shop installed Amp behind drivers side rear seat. Subs are under the rear seat and come like that from JL Audio. They fit perfect with space on each side and some space in the front where feet would be. Seat just barely touches the sub grills when down. I jumped on seat a little to make sure it won't press down on subs and they are perfect. Easy to remove them if needed. The sound came out better than I expected. Really strong and clean with all different types of music. Subs aren't too overwhelming and plenty loud if need be. These Dual JL Audio 8" are impressive. Yes with this setup it can be loud even on the outside but I don't play my music at high volumes. Originally planning to run mostly JL Audio with the Amp and 2 way speakers. Friend had to order them 1 week out. He told me about the Alpine's X series. I wasn't really a fan of Alpine just from past experience. He preferred them over the JL C3's which what I was planning on running. He liked the JL Audio C5's but they no longer make those. He felt the Alpine X series was just as good as the C5's if not better. The Alpine amp was about the same specs as the JL amp I was planning on running. He told me to just try them out and if I don't like them, he'll swap them out when the JL stuff arrives with no extra charge. I have to say I was really impressed with the Alpine X series. Really clear even at high volumes. Strong voice and midrange. Best speakers I've had. Decided to keep them both.I want that bass distinction which the B&O unleashed doesn’t provide.

This will be very helpful. I have the same amp ready to go, it’s a great amp.Attached photos. Shop installed Amp behind drivers side rear seat. I added what I am running below in case anybody was interested. Sorry for rambling on lol.
- Alpine X-A90V Amp
- Alpine X-S65C 2 way speakers ( Front and Rear)
- JL Audio CP208LG-W3v3 Subs (Dual 8" Subs Ported)
- JL Audio LoC-22 Line output converter (Had some issues with delayed turn on popping and some buzzing here and there through the speakers. Originally thought this wasn't needed due to the design of the amp but added this and it took care of all those issues).
I am gonna try this set up once I get some more funds together. This will be very helpful. I have the same amp ready to go, it’s a great amp.
I have the underseat storage and it’s always full so I’d have to put subs behind seats if possible.
Do you know if the Alpine amp replaces factory amp and uses same connections (or is this what line output converter is used for)
Thanks for pics and product details.
I am not sure on the specs for the 401a system which I had in terms of brand of speakers or even if there was an amp. I believe the Alpine Amp is hooked up like you would normally hook up an aftermarket amp. I took a look, it has all the power and ground wires etc. connected. I am not sure if there was an stock amp and if it was bypassed or tapped into. I know they disconnected the center speaker in the dash. They mentioned something like the way this Alpine amp was designed, there was no need for a high level line converter but I was experiencing some delayed popping in the subs after turning ignition off and there was a buzzing sound coming from the front speakers on and off. They decided to add that JL Audio LoC-22 Line output converter. That took care of all the issues I was having that first week. Hope this helps. This will be very helpful. So I found a local shop to do my install. They test fitted this 10” JL audio slim enclosure box and it fits. They are 3 weeks out so I’ll report back after install. This will be very helpful. I have the same amp ready to go, it’s a great amp.

Wow, this shop really $&!?@‘# sucks! So I found a local shop to do my install. They test fitted this 10” JL audio slim enclosure box and it fits. They are 3 weeks out so I’ll report back after install.
Here’s the pic of sub box and costs breakdown. This will give me exactly what I want which is dedicated powerful bass and keep the B&O unleashed for mids and highs. I only had a single 8” Alpine subwoofer in both my expedition and JEEP and I was really happy with that bass so this being a 10” and supposedly a better quality subwoofer the audio guy says I’ll be very happy.
Holy cow fingers crossedoh man it’s not ready, he’s still toning some lines and it’s all taken apart. Then the manager guy says did you call him and he says no, neither one of them say sorry we wasted your time and should of called you to give me a heads up in advance . Then the sales guy says I’m having
