i have 57k on my stock general grabbers so i need some new tires. I don’t do enough major off-roading to have any complaints about the grabbers, but since im buying new tires might as well make sure im getting the best ones. Keeping the stock wheels and tire size. Deciding between KO3 and getting grabbers again. My off-roading consists of deep sand and snow, with some rocks in there. Mostly highway driving besides that. Priorities are performance, durability, and quietness.

Thoughts on these two tires?

I haven't been impressed with the general grabbers. Particularly in snow, looks like you're in a Snowy area

I think there's a lot better options out there like the KO3, any of the nitto hybrid tires, and Falken Wildpeak seems like a good deal. I'll be picking up a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Boss this winter myself.

The KO3 is known for its strong sidewall construction, which contributes to a firmer feel on the road, whereas The Grabber has a softer ride compared to the KO3, with a more flexible sidewall and a slightly less aggressive tread design.

If you are stuck on pavement, want to maintain ride quality and fuel economy, the grabbers are fine - This assumes you don't go to a larger tire, like a 285/75 or a 295/70 in the KO3 with the factory wheels.

I absolutely loved the Grabbers for the 4000 miles I had them. They are very light and they perform quite well. I didn't get a good feel for their snow performance, but the KO series aren't known for their snow performance necessarily anyways. It's like @beo_tom said, there are other options.

I've also been reading a lot about BFGs decline in quality, so take that into account as well. The AT4/w is the best all-around performing A/T there is imo. I think the Baja Boss is the *best* A/T but there are some drawbacks, it's heavy, it's stiff, it has a lot of rolling resistance etc.

Thanks for the input, I hadn’t considered the AT4/w. Perhaps thats a better deal?

I’m not a tire expert, my tremor is stock. Keeping the tires stock size more than likely. Just want to get a great tire.

I've had the AT4W for a while now and have been happy with it in various conditions, including wet and snow. I'd recommend it.

Road noise okay? Does it seem like they have 50k miles in them?

My driving is similar to yours, mostly on paved roads. The road noise has been fine for me - no issues. I'm not sure about the treadlife, but they are supposed to last longer than the AT3W.

I'll throw in a vote for the Nitto Terra Grappler G3 in the SL rating (not E)

I had to balance them 3 times and drive them 1000 miles for them to really balance/stop vibrating but they're real good.

Very quiet.

Better look than the grabbers IMHO, but not as aggressive as a RT tire or the KO3/Baja Boss.

SL rating and no noticable difference in ride quality or stiffness.

Live in the desert so haven't been able to try them on wet or snow so can't comment there.

Regarding the wildpeaks, I feel the AT4W is a step backward in appearance from the AT3W that I had previously on a Xterra. But they were outstanding in snow... Like driving on dry pavement if not even better. Massive grip.

If I did it again I'd give the new Pirelli Scorpion XTM a try. Their marketing even shows them on a Tremor.

I have the KO3s in 285/17-18 on a new Landcruiser 250. They are stiffer and harder riding because of the sidewall and E rating. If I'd been thinking straight, I probably should have sourced an SL rated tire for the LC250 for a better ride. The KO3s seem quieter than the KO2s I ran on my last F-150, but have better off-road dirt/rock performance. I never had an issue with winter traction with the KO2s, but I'm not surprised there are better options. I do think the Grabbers are excellent...for the price.

I opted for the BFG tires because they are made in the US. I know a lot of folks who love the Toyo Open Country tires and others that have a love/hate relationship with the Falkens. The tires on my Tremor will be due for replacement soon (before winter) and I'll likely upsize to a 295/70-18. Not sure if I'll go with the Toyos or a set of BFGs.

Some owners on here and other places have reported balancing issues with the K03’s so be wary.

I like the OEM Generals but when it’s time to replace them, I’m going to try the Toyo AT3’s in a slightly wider size. 295/70/18

The OEM Generals were amazing for the first two winters but last winter they definitely weren't great. But I do have 80K on them now.
No one on here talks about the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent. I might give it a try in 295/70 R18. Its only 56lbs for an E supposedly and looks like it should be a great snow/rain tire and I only do a small amount of hunting roads and trails.

TexasTea; The Nitto Terra Grappler G3 is my second choice. If it wasn't so heavy in the 295 E rating (approx. 65lbs) I would get a set. I still might get them but just in the stock size and at 46 Lbs you cant go wrong........Decisions......Decisions

The Cooper Discoverer AT3XLT looks like a very interesting tire as well.

I went with ko3 not thrilled they couldn’t balance one brand new sent it back, still having balance issues at certain speeds they do corner better on the street but I’ll go with a different brand next time

Have a look at the new Pirelli Scorpion XTM as well. They offer a SL version that is aimed at OEM Rivian Truck. It's got a label for "ev" use which seems to mean just the compound has less rolling resistance, which should benefit all vehicles mpg

I previously had KO2s on my Raptor and loved them....They got me through anything, included deep snow, mud, and river crossings. Been unimpressed with my grabbers, but luckily don't get the deep snow anymore unless I go looking for it. Wanting to get the KO3s when I need new tires on my Tremor

Northern Canada checking in- KO3's are really an improvement over Grabbers in the winter. I think mostly compound based (They are soft!!!). They are also better than KO2, Duratrac, AT3/4W. After Falken ruined the AT4W (Vastly inferior in the snow to the AT3W- much harder compound for tread life), the KO3 is a great tire.

KO3 is also much better in the mud with more void space. Not that quiet on the road, but balanced about as well as previous Falkens, Duratracs, or Toyo AT3.

Tread life doesn't look great, 6,000 miles in they're at 13/32- new is 16/32 so we'll see how they wear.
