Anyone with experience or educated opinion on using a 1" or 2" lift shackle with the purpose of removing or reducing the height of the lift block? This would be less expensive than going with an entirely new (Deaver) leaf spring setup. Just FYI, I would do very little towing and would very infrequently carry high payloads.

In a perfect world I'd get the lift in the rear needed for 35" tires but do away with a lift block. Lift blocks don't help axle wrap. I could go with a lower block, as some on this forum have already done, and/or add a Roadmaster Active Suspension (RAS) or something like the BDS Recoil traction bars.

We're already starting with 500 lb-ft torque engine and knowing me, I won't be able to resist the urge for a tune as some point in the future ;).

Thanks.

F150 shackles are inverted, so I assume you are talking about doing a shackle flip? The most lift you can get just by switching shackles is 1" since you have to use shorter shackles in order to lift the truck.

Personally, until I started having issues with axle wrap and potentially bent springs I would leave things alone. I just havent heard of these issues happening on any F150 even with a tune.

Thanks @b-real, good information.

I don't have enough experience with shackles to speak to a shackle flip, here's what I ran across:

Yes, those shackles are 1" shorter than the stock ones, which in turn give you that 1" of lift. They are basically the shortest shackles you can run, meaning that you cannot get more than 1" of lift by just replacing shackles. If you want the 2" you mentioned and to get rid of the blocks completely you will have to do a shackle flip kit. Also, theoretically, shorter shackles can lead to a stiffer ride/less articulation.
