Loud clunk right before tailgate closes

My power tailgate makes a loud clunking sound right before it latches into place. Sounds like something is catching or binding. Has anyone experienced this? Planning on having the dealer look at it when they spray on the bed liner.

Same here. I’ve got a small punch list of items that I need looked at. Let me know how it goes for you because it definitely doesn’t sound healthy.

I also have this issue. I even took the work surface panel off the tailgate to see if I could see anything catching on the inside but no luck. Mine happens just before the latches hit the pins so I know for sure that they aren’t the problem. I’m curious to see if there is an actual fix for it.

I have it as well. Had it on my 17 and brought it to my buddy and he fixed it I never asked what it was. I should text him

Yep, mine is the same as yours. Definitely sounds like something is catching right before it closes.

Brought mine in. They lubed the torson rod. Fix the problem. They took it apart and couldn't see anything wrong. Lubed it noise is gone

Have t had it checked. The aftermarket team was different than the service team so I’ll wait until I change the oil.

miraculously..... mine quit making the loud popping noise on its own.... about a week ago.
I guess it fixed itself, idk?

Have an oil change tomorrow and tried to get the tailgate issue added to the appointment. The dealer said I had to make special appointment for repairs and October is the earliest they could get it in…Glad I don’t have something really wrong. It does seem to be getting better as the tailgate is used.
