That was my thought this time (replace, though 4x the $30 you mentioned, but not as high as McGards ($300+))...I also live on the beach (salt water). It's almost as if the black lug nuts are a 'wear' component. Eventually, through impact wrenches (sooner) or just carefully wrenching them by hand (later) they're going to develop rust on the edges/contact points. Replace for +/- $30 every couple of years, IMO, as I'm tired of worrying about them.
Use this, solves the problem. It's almost as if the black lug nuts are a 'wear' component. Volk is amazing and those look awesome!
what do you mean you couldn’t justify McGards? They are the gold standard (or black if you want to match your rims). Excuse me how much was your truck?I couldn't justify McGards this time, so I went gorilla. I don't rotate tires (shoot me), so they don't come off. Paint is a little thinner than McGards, and I'd be a little nervous about impact wrenches often, but for my purposes I torque wrenched them once and they're good. Heard OEM bloat (two-piece) so I went aftermarket (plus they're black, huge bonus for me).
I was hoping no one would catch that, lol. Very true and good point. Just thought I'd try something different.what do you mean you couldn’t justify McGards? They are the gold standard (or black if you want to match your rims). Excuse me how much was your truck?![]()
It's OK, I still have the chrome ones that came with the truck. However, I don't notice the difference at 80 mph!I was hoping no one would catch that, lol. Very true and good point. Just thought I'd try something different.
Thanks! I have that bottle in my gun room and never thought to use it on the truck... of course
